Aberdeen Company Opens Lifeboat Training Center in Australia

An Aberdeen-based company is behind the first freefall lifeboat-training centre to open for business in Australia. Survival Craft Inspectorate Ltd (Survival Craft) has collaborated with Australia’s Industrial Foundation for Accident Prevention (IFAP) to establish the new facility in Fremantle, which was formally opened by Western Australia premier Colin Barnett. Survival Craft Wins $7.7B Lifeboat Contract

Marine safety specialist Survival Craft Inspectorate Ltd won offshore contracts potentially worth a total of $7.7B to supply new lifeboats that meet key upgrade requirements. Among Survival Craft’s clients are Apache, BP, Chevron, Maersk Oil and Marathon, which have all agreed supply contracts for the upgrading of their UK-located fixed installations. The upgrades are in accordance with the companies’ obligations as duty holders, taking into account the Health and Safety Executive’s Big Persons in Lifeboats Guidance Information Sheet 12/2008 for offshore installations, published in December 2008. Shell Orders from Survival Craft

Shell UK Ltd placed an order for two new 72 seat lifeboats from Survival Craft Inspectorate Ltd in Aberdeen. The lifeboats will replace two 56 seat lifeboats aboard the Anasuria FPSO operating in the North Sea. The new lifeboats will use the vessel’s existing davits but due to their design, will enable an increase in crew carrying capacity.
