Aschmann to Take CEO Helm at BSM

Rajaish Bajpaee will hand over CEO responsibility of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) to his current deputy, Capt. Norbert Aschmann, through planned succession at the end of December 2014 after more than 27 at the Schulte Group. Bajpaee will then take up the position of Chairman in a nonexecutive capacity, with effect from January 1, 2015, where he will support the continued success of BSM. Bajpaee joined the Eurasia Group of Companies in 1987, commencing as Deputy General Manager before being promoted to the position of President & CEO.

Rajaish Bajpaee, Chief Executive Officer of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, will receive the Tanker Shipping & Trade Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of a career spanning more than 40 years and characterized by outstanding commercial acumen, wider industry participation and philanthropy. As head of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, Bajpaee has overall responsibility for a fleet of more than 600 ships of various types, 20,000 employees and maritime service, crew management and training centers in over 30 locations around the world.

Decade Old India Shipping Summit Makes History

In ten years, India Shipping Summit held consistently in Mumbai, has sailed on a robust growth course despite the worldwide witnessing recessionary waves buffeting any endeavors to grow and gain. Invest in Seafaring, don’t Criminalize it, warns ISMA President

EUROPE should look to institute laws that reward those choosing the sea as a career instead of singling out seafarers as scapegoats in pollution initiatives, the President of the International Ship Managers’ Association (ISMA) has warned. Invited to Brussels earlier this week [Tuesday April 5th] to address a high level delegation from the Directorate General for Energy and Transport which included Fotis Karamitsos, Director for Maritime Transport and Jacques Michaux, Deputy Head, Rajaish Bajpaee said that in the face of shortages of quality seafarers, the responsibilities of a seafaring profession can best be met by induction of the best youth into seafaring from grass root levels.

Ship Managers Cooperate To Set Key Performance Indicators

Self-Regulation of the global ship management sector has taken a step nearer reality following the announcement that a method has been developed to set an industry-wide standard for operational key performance indicators (KPI) governing the management of today’s ships. A pilot project initiated by a Sponsor Group made up of the International Ship Managers’ Association (ISMA) together with 18 of the world’s leading ship managers and owners has identified a methodology to establish common standards for measuring, calculating and reporting KPIs to the industry. The move is significant in that it is the first time since the establishment of ISMA in the late 1980s that the global ship management industry has come together to agree how to self-regulate.

Eurasia Responds to SARS Threat

Eurasia has taken Preventative steps to contain the SARS threat prevailing in Hong Kong, Singapore and other countries. All available details on the disease were compiled and sent out to all ships including precautions and preventions and prevention measures. This was carried out without unduly raising alarm and causing panic among the crew on broad and their families ashore. At the same time, all briefings, debriefings, joining and off-signing of crew in Hong Kong have been stopped until further instructions. All Masters have been instructed not to allow their crews to go ashore in high risk ports and face masks have been supplied on all vessels. All crew have been instructed to strictly use masks in high risk ports.
