Gazprom Neft provided a summer shipment of oil from Novoportovskoe deposit – for the first time, the raw material was taken by sea and sent to European consumers, according to Russian official news agency Arctic-Info.

The new oil called Novy Port is the light and low sulfur content (about 0.1%) category and exceeds not only the Russian Urals blend in quality, but also Brent.

The tanker will deliver the raw materials to Europe in September, and in the ice-free season of 2014, it is planned to sent out two tankers with more than 80,000 tonnes of the new variety of Novy Port oil.

For shipment of the raw materials from Novoportovskoe deposit to Kameny Cape, at the end of 2015, the Arctic terminal will be equipped for year-round transportation of oil, which will take up to 40,000 tonnes of raw material per day. Before construction of the oil transportation complex, during the summer season a temporary route will be by sea, and during the cold season on winter roads. Full-scale development of Novoportov industry will begin in 2016.
