Columbia Industrial Products, Inc. of Eugene Oregon and Simplex Americas LLC have announced the signing of a distributorship agreement between the two companies to supply CIP’s range of CIP Marine Composites for the Inland Waterways of North America. CIP Marine Composites are textile reinforced, self lubricated bearing materials. Manufactured in tubes and sheets, CIP is easily machined into a variety of configurations for bearings, wear pad, thrust washers and other components.

Over the past three years the Spanish engine manufacturer Guascor has been making inroads into the U.S. workboat engine market. They not only have a good product, but also were fortunate enough to sign an agreement with the Marine Division of Reagan Equipment Company, Plaquemine, La. Reagan also distributes engines for John Deere and Waukesha, so the addition of Guascor fits well into their overall engine lineup. Over the past couple of years Reagan has sold dozens of Guascor engines to repower push boats. "Our Guascor engine line which includes 575 hp, 750 HP and 1150 HP at 1800 RPM have been good engines for this application," said Warren Berthelot, general manager of Reagan Marine.

Simplex Americas LLC, the representative office for Blohm & Voss Industries GmbH in the Americas, has expanded its Factory Trained & Authorized service team with the hiring of Jay M. Lewis as Service Engineer. Lewis’ 15 years of propulsion and shaft experience includes progressive positions as Outside Machinist for various Marine Contractors, Outside Machinist Foreman at Bender Shipbuilding, and ultimately Outside Machinist Leaderman at Atlantic Marine Inc., in Mobile, Alabama. In addition, he most recently was employed as a specialist propulsion service contract engineer with Rolls Royce Naval Marine.
