Saudi PIF, China's COSCO Buy Stake in Red Sea Gateway Terminal

The Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, and COSCO SHIPPING Ports Ltd have completed a deal to buy a combined 21.2% stake in Red Sea Gateway Terminal Ltd from Saudi Industrial Services Co (SISCO).SISCO will receive gross proceeds of 556.5 million riyals ($148 million) for the deal, it said in a statement.The proceeds will support the company’s strategic objectives of enhancing shareholder returns and optimizing its portfolio, it said.LogiPoint also divested its 4% direct equity stake in the terminal and will receive gross proceeds of 105 million riyals, it said.JPMorga

APM Terminals to Retain Full Ownership of Elizabeth Facility

APM Terminals announced today that it will not pursue the proposed joint venture for the ownership and operation of APM Terminals’ Elizabeth, New Jersey facility. Eric Sisco, President of APM Terminals North America, stated: “APM Terminals and Brookfield worked closely with the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey to address the needs of each party. Despite the good faith efforts of all involved, a commercially viable solution was not achieved”. APM Terminals will continue to operate its Elizabeth facility under its long-term lease with the Port Authority. “Our Elizabeth terminal is our premier U.S. east coast facility”, commented Sisco. “We have operated in the port since the beginning of containerization and we will continue to operate here for many years to come.”

The USCG's new Defender Class craft from Safe Boats will be powered exclusively by twin Honda BF225 4-stroke outboards. The Hondas can propel the new 25-ft. (7.6-m) Response Boat - Small, or RB-S as the Coast Guard refers to it through 30-mph winds and 6-ft. seas. The BF225s will provide a top speed of over 45 knots allowing the Safe Boat reaches plane in less than four seconds. Its marine-grade 5086 aluminum hull with integral, sealed air chamber and polyethylene, non-deflatable foam collar make the craft one of the safest boats on the water. The RB-S features an all-welded, self-bailing deck; insulated and heated full cabin; upper spotter windows; port and starboard sliding doors; marine electrical cable; stepped transom; and locking long gun storage.

SISCO's Fast-Pass Receives U.S. Patent

Fast-Pass, an innovative high-tech access control system invented by SISCO's CEO, Anthony Zagami, has been granted a U.S. patent. The device, which is used to identify and monitor the ingress and egress of people from a facility or site offers instantaneous documentation and storage of this information. This high-speed photo visitor, passenger, employee or contractor control system works in real-time and provides a photo pass in just seconds. Fast-Pass incorporates a digital image of the person as well as a digital image and details of the individual's ID (i.e. driver's license, passport, business card, etc.). Additionally, Fast-Pass records the exact date and time of a person'(s) arrival and departure from a facility or site, creating a tracking mechanism of individual(s) activities.

While cruise lines have been observing this practice for many years for entertainment purposes, a new kind of photo has since come into play – the high speed interactive photo I.D. Developed by Security Identification Systems Corporation (SISCO), A-Pass (Automated Personnel Assisted Security Screening), provides a picture of each guest – even before boarding the ship – via a kiosk that stores each passengers photo upon insertion of their boarding card. Everyone who boards, even ships’ officers are required to observe this practice, which was presented before a Senate Subcommittee on Capitol Hill on January 9.
