SENER Presents FBASIC at SNAME WMTC 2015

SENER Marine north America manager, Verónica Alonso, presents a paper that was written in collaboration with Rodrigo Pérez, SENER South Europe manager. SENER engineering and technology group took active part in the World Maritime Technology Conference 2015, the annual congress organized by the US association of naval architects (SNAME), which groups most part of the maritime industry. Bollinger VP Fanguy Snags SNAME Award

Louisiana-based shipbuilder Bollinger Shipyards, LLC announced its vice president for quality management system, Dennis Fanguy, will receive the 2015 William M. Kennedy from the Society of Naval Architects & Marine Engineers (SNAME). The award, given in recognition of outstanding service and contribution in the development of systems and planning applying to shipbuilding and ship repair, will be presented to Fanguy at the World Maritime Technology Conference / SNAME Maritime Convention in Providence, R.I. at the President’s Luncheon on November 6, 2015.

SNAME, INA of India Sign Agreement

At a meeting during the World Maritime Technology Conference (WMTC) in Mumbai, India, a delegation of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) members including Society President Keith Michel, Executive Director Kimball, Naresh Maniar, Bruce Hutchison and Todd Grove met with members of the Institute of Naval Architects of India (INAI) at the offices of Bharati Shipyard Ltd. in downtown Mumbai to negotiate and sign a cooperative agreement between the two societies.

Editor’s Note

I talk a lot. much. But it is an inherent element of my professsion in the timely collection and dissemination of information. More importantly, though, is that I know when to shut up and listen. No matter how many hours I spend on the phone or in myriad meetings during a given year, there is always one conversation that stands out; one conversation that conveys more than the others combined. I had the pleasure of that conversation last month in a conference call with Admiral Robert E. Kramek, (USCG retired), President and COO, ABS Americas, and co-chairman of the conference's technical committee, and Dr. Henry S. Marcus, Professor of Marine Systems in the Ocean Engineering Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

World Maritime Tech Exhibit Set For San Francisco

Shipbuilding Symposium Attracts Record Crowd

The annual Ship Production Symposium had as many as 600 attendees, many from the shipbuilding and repair industry, academia and government, gathered at Boston’s Westin Copley Place hotel for the September 25-26 event. concurrently with the Symposium.. Evidence of considerable interest in and support for the shipbuilding/repair industry and the NSRP collaboration was seen in not only the size of the crowd in attendance, but also in its composition. all the Nation’s largest shipyards were joined by top officials from the Defense Department, U. S. Navy, Maritime Administration and American Bureau of Shipping. repair industry’s importance to the Nation, and cited valuable advances in the industry that have been made possible through the government/industry collaboration enabled by NSRP.
