Dutch marine services and towage firm KOTUG has closed the acquisition of Seaways, first announced in April. The fee was not disclosed."The acquisition of Seaways brings together the assets, expertise and people of two leading companies that support the worldwide floating facility business such as FSO, FPSO, FLNG, FSRU and SPM Terminals. KOTUG Buys Teekay’s Stake in Australian Towage JV

KOTUG Australia and Teekay Shipping Australia Pty Ltd. have reached a deal to reshape KT Maritime Services Australia Pty Ltd. (KTM) from a 50/50 joint venture to a full subsidiary of the KOTUG group. KTM was incorporated in 2012 to serve the Australian towage market. Now, after several years of working with KOTUG to establish this business, Teekay will exit KTM to focus on its Australian ship management, crewing and consultancy businesses. The deal received unanimous approval from the boards of both parent companies and was executed in the first week of April 2018.

New Tug Named for KT-Maritime Services

A naming ceremony was held for RT Raven in Sharjah, UAE, where the new tug was built at the Albwardy Damen yard. RT Raven is managed by KT-Maritime Services Australia, owned by the KOTUG group, and will be deployed by ConocoPhillips in the Bayu Undan field, north of Australia. The ART 100-46 class Rotor tug is designed by Robert Allan Ltd and DAMEN Hardinxveld. The RT Raven will provide offshore services, towage assistance, personnel transfer and standby duties at ConocoPhillips’ Bayu Undan field in the Timor Sea.

KOTUG Adds Fifth Infield Support Vessel

Towage operator KOTUG said it has acquired a fifth infield support vessels (ISVs) in Australia and East Timor, furthering its investment in offshore support. The new vessel, Coral Knight, will be bare boat chartered exclusively to Australian Maritime Systems Limited (AMS) to provide emergency towage services and maintain aids to the navigation network at the Great Barrier Reef for AMSA (Australian Maritime Safety Authority). KOTUG said it acquired the Coral Knight with a view to further expand its offshore support services in the Australian region.

KOTUG Appoint Harrold van der Meer COO

Harrold van der Meer has joined the KOTUG group and will succeed Dorus Knegtel, the current COO & Vice President Business Development. Harrold van der Meer has a maritime background and more than 20 years experience in technical and operational management within the P&O Nedlloyd / Maersk Group. Thereafter he joined the heavy transport company Fairstar, as Fleet Manager. His specific assignment as COO for KOTUG will be to further strengthen the operational capabilities and procedures…

Damen Delivers Two Azimuth Tractor Drive Tugs 2412 to Kotug

Kotug  International will shortly be putting two new Damen Azimuth Tractor Drive Tugs 2412 into operation into the German Port of Hamburg. These tugs were ordered by Elisabeth Ltd in Malta and are being chartered by the Kotug  Group. Kotug  is a fast growing towage company expanding its innovative services to ports and terminals in Europe (Rotterdam, Hamburg, Bremerhaven), West-Africa and Australia. Recently Kotug  started towage activities in the new German deep sea port Wilhelmshaven.

SNRH BeginsTowage in the Port of Le Havre

After 7 years of legal battles with the Authorities in France, Société Nouvelle de Remorquage du Havre (SNRH) assisted its first vessel, the ‘Horncap’ of Hamburg based Hornlinie. In doing so, SNRH has fulfilled the wishes of their International client base to break the towage monopoly in Le Havre and to offer the same client friendly and competitive service that they receive from the Kotug Group in the ports of Rotterdam, Hamburg and Bremerhaven.
