K+N to be CO2 Neutral for Shipments

Switzerland-based global transport and logistics company Kuehne + Nagel International AG has launched a Net Zero Carbon program that will aim to reduce the environmental impact of supply chains.In addition to the continuous reduction of its own CO2 emissions, the company now offers its customers solutions for reducing the CO2 footprint of their supply chain. With the use of big data and new digital platforms, the selection of transport routes and modes can be optimized from a CO2 perspective.Kuehne + Nagel has also decided to proactively address the CO2 footprint of the transportation services performed by its suppliers – airlines, shipping lines and haulage companies. Kuehne + Nagel targets comprehensive CO2 neutralization (Scope 3 of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol – GHG) by 2030.

CMA CGM Finalizes Ceva Logistics Tender

French shipping giant CMA CGM has completed its public tender offer to acquire CEVA Logistics.The French carrier has confirmed the acquisition of Ceva Logistics after announcing it holds 97.89 percent of the company’s stock and will therefore de-list it from the Zurich Stock Exchange after April 16."Merging CEVA's operations into the CMA CGM Group will strengthen its position as a worldwide leader in maritime transport and logistics. Cosco Shipping Ports to Build Freight Station at Khalifa Port

Abu Dhabi Ports and Cosco Shipping Ports Limited (CSP) and Abu Dhabi Ports broke ground for the construction of a new container terminal at Khalifa Port during a high-profile event on Sunday, reported WAM. The ports also signed an agreement with Abu Dhabi Ports Company for a container freight station, which is expected to be the largest in the region. The new container freight station will provide Abu Dhabi trade with a state of the art facility offering bonded 'LCL/FCL' consolidation and de-consolidation services, cross stuffing, cargo weight reduction, short term warehousing for de-consolidated cargo as well as easy connectivity with the container terminals in Khalifa Port.

ICTSI Subic on Growth Path

International Container Terminal Services, Inc.’s (ICTSI) new Container Freight Station (CFS) at the Subic Bay Freeport is at the forefront of ensuring the faster movement of goods in the Northern and Central Luzon markets. The two regions continue to grow, driven by industrial centers like Subic, Clark, Bataan, and Tarlac. Launched last year, the CFS is one of Subic Bay International Corp.’s (SBITC) value-added services. Kuehne + Nagel to Disclose CO2 Emissions for Seafreight

Kuehne + Nagel has expanded its sustainability offering for global seafreight services: As of May 2017, the total amount of CO2 emissions generated by seafreight ship-ments is printed on each invoice assisting shippers to identify their carbon footprint from transport operations. With this initiative Kuehne + Nagel customers are able to improve the analysis, reporting and management of CO2 emissions caused by their transport chain and thus achieve long-term reduction of the environmental impact. For the calculation of the shipment CO2 data imprinted on its freight invoice, Kuehne + Nagel is using the data of its online Global Seafreight Carbon Calculator (GSCC), providing instant overviews of CO2, SOx and NOx emissions for FCL and LCL movements from door-to-door.

Crowley Adds Houston-Caribbean LCL Service

Matson Launches China to New York LCL Service

Matson Logistics Supply Chain Services is expanding its less-than-container-load (LCL) capabilities by offering direct fast transit from China to the New York and New Jersey markets. NVOCCs Form US-South-Africa Partnership

CaroTrans, a global non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and ocean freight consolidator, has entered a partnership with Thrutainers International, an established NVOCC in South Africa. This cooperation creates a U.S.- Sub-Saharan Africa import/export LCL service network in this important trade lane. Troy Container Lines Secures Rotterdam Agent

CaroTrans Adds Direct Montreal-Le Havre Service

Global non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and ocean freight consolidator CaroTrans today announced a new weekly less than container load (LCL) service from Montreal to Le Havre, France. This direct service has a 14 day transit. Freight can originate from as far west as Vancouver with handling provided by multiple container freight stations throughout Canada. The region in and around Montreal, the Quebec province, is a French speaking region with close, historical ties to France, and in turn robust trade, CaroTrans explained. CMA CGM Reports Increased Net Profit in Q1

Container shipping company CMA CGM’s board of directors met under the chairmanship of Jacques R. Saadé, chairman and chief executive officer, to review the financial statements for the first quarter of 2015. For the first quarter of 2015, CMA CGM reported a rise in volumes by 10.5 percent to 3.1 million TEU, chiefly resulting from the increase in volumes on the East-West lines, particularly to and from the U.S., where volumes enjoyed sustained growth, and also from the launch of the Ocean Three Alliance.

CaroTrans Launches US-Japan LCL Export Service

Global non-vessel operating common carrier (NVOCC) and ocean freight consolidator CaroTrans announced a new weekly less than container load (LCL) service from Atlanta to major markets in Japan including: Tokyo, Yokohama, Kobe, Nagoya and Osaka. This service eliminates transshipment and double handling in Los Angeles and Busan. Freight moves from Atlanta to Tokyo in 29 days, Yokohama in 30 days, and Osaka, Nagoya and Kobe in 33 days. Allcargo Logistics has announced the acquisition of two additional vessels aggregating 24000 DWT. for its coastal shipping business. Post this acquisition Allcargo now owns a total of five cargo vessels making it one of the largest players in the logistics industry. CMA CGM 2Q Post Higher Profit

* Volumes carried during the second quarter increased by 6.2% year-on-year, to 3.3 million TEUs, compared to global market volume growth of between 1% and 2%. * Average revenue per container carried decreased by 7.8%. However, this decrease was significantly less than benchmark indices for the period due to the broad diversity of the Group's customers and lines. * Unit costs fell 10.9%, largely due to the sharp fall in oil prices. * Core EBIT surged 59.3% compared to the second quarter of 2014 to $325 million, as the Group’s lower unit costs outpaced the decline in average revenue per container carried. The core EBIT margin of 7.9% was once again significantly above peer averages. * Consolidated net profit group Share came to $156 million, up 66.7% on second-quarter 2014.
