Teresa Peacock Joins Dryad Global as Non-executive Director

SC Ports to Use Tideworks Solutions

The provider of comprehensive terminal operating system (TOS) solutions, Tideworks Technology announced that South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) has successfully gone live with Tideworks’ graphical planning solution, Spinnaker, at the Port of Charleston’s Wando Welch and North Charleston terminals.This is the first phase of the Port of Charleston project and the second implementation of Tideworks’ TOS solutions within the SCPA network. Inland Port Dillon went live with Tideworks’ Intermodal Pro® terminal operating system in April 2018.In this first phase of the project, all stevedores in the port complex have access to the system’s platform to increase process visibility throughout the terminal.

Norwegian Sun Is Back to Port Canaveral

Norwegian Cruise Line's ship Norwegian Sun has returned to call Port Canaveral its homeport for another year. Also returning are the popular all-inclusive cruises to Cuba.Starting today (April 15), the Norwegian Sun, which in 2018 became the first homeported cruise ship to sail from Port Canaveral to Cuba, will offer four-, five- and seven-day cruises to Havana, Cuba, with select sailings also calling to Key West during its four-day cruises.Ports of call during the Sun’s five- and seven-day voyages include Key West, Nassau, Bahamas, or Norwegian’s private island beach at Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas. “We are excited that the Norwegian Sun is returning for another season of cruises to Cuba,” Port CEO Capt. Crowley Implements Tideworks’ TOS at Port Everglades

Clipper Round the World Race Begins

The 12 Clipper Race yachts left the Gosport Marina and will perform a parade of sails alongside the Spinnaker Tower before heading off to London. As the boats left the marina, other crews waved goodbye and wished them luck for their quick journey to the capitol where they will have their final prep week. Following months of training and preparations involving a constant throng of crew and skippers, the Clipper Race HQ in Gosport was left eerily empty and quiet today as the race fleet slipped its lines and the crew departed Portsmouth Harbour for London for the tenth edition Race Start. New Warship for Oman’s Royal Navy

HM Naval Base Portsmouth was lit up red, white and green this morning as BAE Systems handed over the third of three new warships to the Royal Navy of Oman. AL RASIKH is a 99 meter corvette designed, built and delivered as part of Project Khareef. The Interim Acceptance ceremony was attended by dignitaries from both Oman and the U.K. who witnessed the ship’s crew board the vessel to raise the National Flag of Oman for the first time. Mick Ord, Managing Director of BAE Systems Naval Ships, said, “This is a proud day for the Royal Navy of Oman as it takes ownership of the third Khareef Class corvette, which has been completed to the highest standard. Portsmouth’s iconic Spinnaker Tower also joined the colorful celebrations by lighting up in Oman’s national colors.

Barranquilla Implements Tideworks TOS

Tideworks TOS Chosen for New Caledonia Terminal

Terminal management and planning software solutions provider Tideworks Technology says that Koniambo Nickel SAS (KNS) in Koné, New Caledonia, has selected Tideworks to implement its terminal operating system (TOS) solutions for its new container operations. Established near the New Caledonia North Province county town of Koné, KNS is developing a world-class industrial complex that will help New Caledonia become one of the world's largest nickel producers. It is working to exploit a nickel deposit that is ranked one of the most important and of the best quality worldwide. Halyard Chairman Takes the Plunge for Swanage RNLI

Port of Stockton Selects Tideworks TOS

Tideworks Technology, Inc., a provider of full-service terminal management and planning software solutions, announced that California’s Port of Stockton will deploy Tideworks Technology’s terminal operating system (TOS) to manage its container-on-barge operation and improve overall operational efficiency. Columbia Container Terminal Orders Tideworks TOS

Tideworks Technology® announce that Barranquilla Container Terminal chooses its Terminal Operating System (TOS). Barranquilla Container Terminal is a joint venture between SSA International and Sociedad Portuaria del Norte (SNP). The new facility will be managed by Santa Marta International Terminal Company (SMITCO) and will initially have capacity for approximately 122,000 TEU annually. Barranquilla Container Terminal plans to expand the container yard to five hectares and increase capacity to 190,000 TEU during a second phase of development. The terminal will deploy Tideworks’ Mainsail Terminal Management System®, Forecast® by Tideworks and Spinnaker Planning Management System® to manage container operations.

Aircraft Carrier on the Move

The 6,000 tonne hull section of HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH, known as Lower Block 02, will set off on its four day journey to Rosyth on Monday 21 May. The forward section of hull has been moved out of BAE Systems’ production facility at Portsmouth and loaded onto a huge sea going barge in preparation for the journey. On Friday 25 May, a team of 50 cyclists from across the Aircraft Carrier Alliance will take on a gruelling challenge to mark the occasion, cycling 500 miles from Portsmouth to Rosyth in an attempt to complete the journey in a faster time and raise money for the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity. Offshore Expansion: With Growth Comes Wage Pressure

Higher salaries paid in the expanding offshore sector are putting wage pressure on other industry segments like classification societies and port state administrations, employment consultant Spinnaker Consulting says. “With demand for personnel continuing to grow in the offshore sector, the wage gap has widened with other parts of the industry, who may in some cases only be able to offer salaries that are fixed by government employers,” says Spinnaker Chairman Phil Parry. Having said that, Parry warns that in Europe offshore expertise may itself be in short supply if more is not done in the future to provide a level playing field for offshore industry workers.

Race leader 'Wild Oats XI' is set to launch into Bass Strait in  the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race. There have been no retirements from the 76 boat racing fleet since it left Sydney on Boxing Day. Wild Oats XI's navigator, Adrienne Cahalan, reported that the crew had had a busy night, constantly changing sails as yesterday's east-south-easterly breeze moved around to the east and softened to 4-5 knots at around midnight. It gradually shifted around to the north-north east, and gradually built in the early hours of the morning.

New Farr-design Sailboat From Bavaria Yachts

The new 7m (23ft) trailerable, one-design sport sailing boat, 'B/One' was built by Bavaria Yachts in Giebelstadt, Germany. Bavaria asked Farr Yacht Design for an economical one-design that would impress advanced sailors with excellent performance, yet be easy to handle and operate for the weekend sailor and his/her family. Farr Yacht Design, the designers of the B/One, have met these requirements with a technologically advanced hull shape developed from the Volvo Open 70 and Farr 400, an easy to use sailplan, and interior features you would expect to find on a boat 3 feet longer.
