Transpetro Selects KVH VSAT for 45 Tankers

Connectivity solutions provider KVH Industries, Inc. announced that Brazilian oil and gas transport company Transpetro has chosen KVH VSAT connectivity for the majority of its tanker fleet. Transpetro, which provides transportation for the Brazil's state-owned oil and gas company Petrobras, chose KVH’s TracPhone V7-HTS satellite communications antenna system with a five-year airtime contract for 45 tankers, including a combination of newbuilds and existing vessels. BELCO and A.P. Moller - Maersk Ink Exhaust Gas Cleaning Contract

Demonstration Aboard the Maersk Taurus Containership. Belco Technologies Corporation (BELCO), a wholly owned subsidiary of DuPont, headquartered in Parsippany, N.J., USA, has reached an agreement with A.P. Moller – Maersk, headquartered in Copenhagen, Denmark, to design, manufacture and supply the BELCO advanced marine scrubbing system for demonstration on one of the auxiliary engines aboard the Maersk Taurus. The system will be designed to remain on board as a commercial installation following the successful demonstration. The BELCO Exhaust Gas Cleaning System can be used to reduce SO2 from ship engines and boilers as an economic alternative to using a more expensive low sulphur content fuel when operating in SO2 restricted areas known as emission control area (ECA) zones.

StatoilHydro Announces Discoveries in Norwegian Continental Shelf

The presence of a considerable oil column has been confirmed under the Dagny structure in the , near Sleipner, announced StatoilHydro. The total recoverable volume is estimated at 100-125 million barrels of oil equivalent. Gas has also been proven in the deep-water Snefrid South prospect near the Luva discovery in the . The well is estimated to contain some 4 billion standard cubic metres of recoverable gas.
