Dutch shipbuilding group Damen has signed its first contact with ballast water treatment systems (BWTS) manufacturer ERMA FIRST. Siemens Gamesa Buys Senvion Wind Biz

German-Spanish  wind turbine manufacturing giant Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has agreed a $225m deal to buy 8.9GW of the European onshore service business of embattled Germany-based rival Senvion along with its smaller rival’s blade factory in Portugal.Senvion´s European service assets will strengthen Siemens Gamesa´s capacity and potential in an important segment. PG to Deliver Cargo Systems for MPSV Newbuilds

Norwegian-based PG Flow Solutions said on Wednesday it has secured orders to supply large liquid-cargo systems and associated equipment for two multipurpose support vessels (MPSV) being constructed in China for an undisclosed shipowner.Under the contract with Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding, theliquid handling and pump specialist said it will supply a comprehensive hydraulically driven cargo system with pumps, mud agitators, hydraulic power pack and control system to each of the two vessels.

Eco Marine Power, Masterbulk Install UltraBattery Onboard Ship

Japanese technology company Eco Marine Power (EMP) has joined forces with Singapore shipping company Masterbulk for the world-first Installation of class-approved UltraBattery (UB) onboard ship.A joint press release announced that the UB battery pack manufactured by the Furukawa Battery Company (Furukawa Battery) has been installed on the large general cargo ship – MV Panamana.This battery pack will later form part of an Aquarius Marine Solar Power solution developed by EMP and be evaluated jointly with Masterbulk and ZEABORN Ship Management (Singapore) Pte. Ltd.The battery pack installed on the ship incorporates class-approved UB-50-12 Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) batteries along with an easy to install marine-grade battery frame kit.

U.S. Yards: Competing – and Winning – Here and Across the Big Pond

Louisiana-based Metal Shark powers into the second half of 2018 with a healthy backlog, multiple recent deliveries into foreign markets, and a portfolio of patrol craft that has attracted multiple clients – here and abroad. Key patrol boat contracts for this rapidly expanding builder include the U.S. Coast Guard Response Boat – Small (RB-S). Over 300 of these units are service since the award of the contract in 2012 and, says Metal Shark, new units are in production and shipping weekly. Separately, over 50 of the U.S. Navy Force Protection Boat – Medium (FPB-M) have already been delivered and are in service. That contract, too, is still active and boats are shipping regularly. Looking ahead, Metal Shark was awarded a contract in October 2017 to produce up to 50 of the U.S.
