MacGregor Cargo Handling Equipment Ordered for Matson Containerships

MacGregor announced on Friday it has landed a contract from SM Solutions/Philly Shipyard to supply cargo handling solutions for three 1,822 FEU sized containerships.MacGregor’s scope of supply encompasses design, hardware and supply for hatch covers, lashing bridges, deck stanchions, fixed and removable cell guides in hold and container fixed fittings. Esgian has published its Week 49 Rig Market Roundup highlighting new drilling activity in the North Sea and a new licensing deal in Morocco.Drilling Activity and DiscoveriesSerica Energy is continuing with plans for its four-well drilling campaign in the UK North Sea, scheduled for 2024 and early 2025. The campaign will be carried out using the semisubmersible COSLInnovator. All four wells are production wells. The first well in the campaign will be a sidetrack of an existing well (B1z) on the Bittern field.

MacGregor to Supply All-electric RoRo Equipment to Four PCTC Vessels

MacGregor reports it has been selected to supply equipment for four new roll-on, roll-off (RoRo) pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) vessels to be built by the Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd for H-Line Shipping, Korea.The vessels are scheduled to be delivered to the owner starting in the second quarter of 2024 and are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2025.MacGregor, part of Cargotec, said it will supply all-electrically operated RoRo equipment, including quarter ramps, side ramps, internal movable ramps and rampway doors to each of the four vessels.

A high-tech workboat is more than halfway through its record-setting journey to autonomously circumnavigate Denmark.The Nellie Bly, equipped with Sea Machines autonomous command and control systems, arrived in Laeso, Denmark on Saturday, marking the halfway point of the 1,000-nautical-mile autonomous voyage.The journey, which Sea Machines is calling "The Machine Odyssey", officially commenced on September 30, when the Nellie Bly departed Cuxhaven, Germany, (near Hamburg) for Denmark. The vessel has a crew on board but is being controlled by U.S. Coast Guard licensed officers in Boston.

Volvo Penta to Supply Gensets for Five New Electric Ferries

Turkish boat builder Sefine Shipyard has won a contract to supply Norwegian operator Boreal with five electric ferries – each supported by two Volvo Penta D13 MG IMO III generator sets (gensets). The ferries will operate to-and-from the islands in the inner Oslo fjord and run scheduled services throughout the day. The Multi Maritime-designed vessels will each have a length of 35 meters, a beam of eight meters, and two passenger decks capable of accommodating up to 350 people.The ferries will be built under DNV-GL classification regulations.

MacGregor to Upgrade MSC Vessels

Swiss-based shipping line MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has signed a contract with MacGregor and Guangzhou Wenchong Dockyard to upgrade cargo systems on six 16,000 TEU containerships owned and operated by the company.The upgrades will be implemented during dry-docking in 2020, the global container shipping company said in a press release.
