UK's developer and supplier of connectors, First Subsea has delivered a beach landing Cable Protection System for the export cables on the 25MW WindFloat Atlantic project, located 20 kilometers off the coast of Viana do Castelo in Portugal. Hengtong Group was contracted through its Submarine Business Units to deliver the export cable for the beach export system which was installed on schedule by its contractor DeepOcean at the end of June 2019.The cable protection system is designed to suit the export cable and consists of clamps, bellmouth and cable protection. Drydocks World said that Floating Storage Re-gasification Unit (FSRU) Toscana sailed away from Drydocks World – Dubai. The unit, formerly the 138,830-cbm LNG carrier Golar Frost, has been under conversion since June 2009 at Drydocks world Dubai yard for contractor Saipem and owner OLT. The LNG Carrier, built by Hyundai Heavy Industries was converted into a floating LNG receiving terminal of the FSRU type, and will be permanently moored off Livorno, Italy and connected to shore through a gas export pipeline. There are only a few such units in operation around the world.

AECOM awarded US$15.6-million first year of renewable contract for Ghana’s Western Corridor Gas Infrastructure Development Project. The contract from the Ghana National Gas Company is renewable annually. The project primarily consists of a 27-mile shallow-water section of the offshore pipeline from Ghana’s Jubilee Field to Atuabo; a gas-processing plant at Atuabo; a 68-mile onshore pipeline from Atuabo to Aboadze; a 46-mile onshore lateral pipeline from Essiama to Prestea; a natural gas liquids export system in Domunli; and other infrastructure such as storage facilities and an office complex. International FPSO moorings and marine engineering services business, Sigma Offshore, has added new impetus to its growth plans by appointing an experienced industry figure to head up one of its key service areas. Technip was awarded a contract by Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC), for the engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning assistance of their Gas and Condensate Export System project. The project is spread over onshore and offshore locations in two countries, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. The objective of the project is to deliver a combination of lean gas, condensate and sour gas through a single 12” export pipeline from Al Khafji Joint Operations (KJO) facilities in Saudi Arabia to Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) tie-in facility,namely the Intermediate Slug Catcher being constructed under KOC Project No EF/1718 near Al-Ahmadi, Kuwait.

GMATS to expand global supply chain and maritime security curriculum. As a foundation of the Global Maritime and Transportation School's expanding Global Supply Chain and Cargo Security curriculum, the Fundamentals of Importing and Exporting is an essential two-day course that will give the student a basic understanding of importing into and exporting out of the United States. This course is designed to provide an awareness of the many regulations, laws, processes, and principles involved in global trade, and from the perspective of the United States.

The next MTS Houston Section luncheon will be held on April 28, 2011 and will feature a presentation by Carlos Ferraz Mastrangelo with Petrobras America. Mr. Mastrangelo will be discussing Petrobras’s decision to use a shuttle-tanker for its oil export system at the Cascade and Chinook developments. While the combination of shuttle-tanker and FPSO is common in the North Sea, Brazil and other parts of the world, it is a first in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Despite the impressive pipeline infrastructure currently available in the U.S. Gulf, none of it reaches as far as the location of the Cascade and Chinook fields, at 160 miles south of the Louisiana coast, in the deep waters of the Walker Ridge quadrant.

Sigma Offshore, which has developed a pioneering mooring and fluid transfer system for oil and gas production vessels, has opened a new office in Singapore. Sigma’s Eirik Refstie moved from the company’s Oslo base to head up the new Singapore office ahead of the FPSO Asia Congress in Singapore on September 28-29. He will take on the role of Vice President Asia Pacific. Sigma Offshore developed its Smart Mooring System (SMS) as a cost-efficient and timesaving solution for FPSOs (Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessels) and other vessels which require both mooring and fluid loading and unloading in medium to deepwater depths. Sigma Offshore now has offices Singapore, Houston, Oslo and its headquarters in Aberdeen.

Stolt Offshore S.A. received contract awards and Letters of Intent totaling approximately $120 million from various customers operating in the North Sea. In the UK sector of the North Sea, BP has awarded Stolt Offshore two contracts totalling $12.4 million for construction and installation of the gas import/export system for Clair Phase 1 and the tie-in of the Clair oil export and gas import/export pipeline systems. BP has also awarded Stolt Offshore a contract, valued at approximately $19.3 million, for the design and construction of an 18-inch hot-tap into the 36-inch BP Forties Pipeline System. Stolt Offshore has been issued with a Letter of Intent for the engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of a 29km 12-inch pipeline system, in the Southern sector of the North Sea.

A Nigerian oil worker was killed and another injured on Tuesday in an armed attack on a supply ship operated by a U Edison Chouest Offshore, Reuters reported. "Armed men came alongside the vessel at 0300 hours (O200 GMT) and got on board to look for things to take. They executed one of the crew when they didn't find anything," an unnamed source told the news agency. The supply ship was operated by Edison Chouest Offshore, a Louisiana-based oil services company, a security source said. The ship was working on an oilfield about three miles offshore operated by U.S. energy giant Chevron, but officials from the California-based company were also unavailable to comment. The field is part of the Escravos oil export system, which normally exports about 160,000 barrels of oil per day.

The Bureau of the Census issued a final rule that will require, as of August 18, 2003, all shipper's export declarations (SEDs) for items on the Commerce Control List (CCL) or the United States Munitions List (USML) to be filed electronically by means of the Automated Export System (AES). For those items regarding which the SED has been filed via AES, carriers are not required to attach a paper copy of the SED to the manifest filed with the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection upon departure. Rather, the manifest should include the transaction identification number or unique identifier to identify the electronic AES record. This number is to be obtained from the shipper. Source: HK Law

The U.S. Census Bureau issued a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) that would, if adopted, require shippers who export items identified on the Commerce Department Commerce Control List (CCL) or the State Department United States Munitions List (USML) to file the Shipper's Export Declaration (SED) electronically via the Automated Export System (AES)/AESDirect. Comments on this proposal must be submitted by December 9, 2002.
