Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

November 29, 2015

The bill is to form the basis of a maritime planning act intended to promote economic growth and development of sea areas. The Danish Maritime Authority is to head the work.

The bill on maritime planning gives the guidelines for the drawing up of a holistic marine plan for Denmark's sea areas, which is to be ready in 2021. It is expected that the bill will be presented to Parliament during the first part of 2016.

Maritime planning is to ensure a more desirable use of the entire sea area and to promote cooperation and cohesion between the many stakeholders and types of use of the sea, such as fishing, raw material extraction, nature, shipping, offshore wind turbines, and the environment. Thus, the proposal is to contribute to improving the framework conditions for the maritime industries.

The Danish Maritime Authority will be heading the work on the new maritime planning act.
