Cotta Named Supply Chain Manager for Mayflower Wind

Massachusetts offshore wind developer Mayflower Wind announced it has hired Will Cotta as its supply chain manager.Cotta, who has experience working with the Mass Clean Energy Center and the offshore wind industry, is charged with growing Mayflower’s supply chain in the New Bedford and Fall River area as well as across Massachusetts.“Will has the knowledge, insights and experience that enables him to make sure that offshore wind development is done in a manner that is fully compatible with existing ocean uses and with environmental stewardship in mind.

New Program Makes it Easier to Ship Cars at Port Everglades

Crowley Maritime has helped launch a pilot Vehicle Validation Export Process Program that now allows shippers to submit original vehicle export documentation electronically instead of delivering physical copies to a local customs trade office. The automated program, which is the first of its kind anywhere in the country, is currently being offered in Port Everglades to exporters shipping used vehicles from South Florida to destinations throughout the Caribbean, Central America and beyond. Crowley was a critical player in developing the test program, which kicked off earlier this month. The test program offers several key advantages.

IAMPE Certifies Port Professionals

The International Association of Maritime and Port Professionals (IAMPE) has informed about the Accredited Marine Port Executive Professional Certification. This advanced certification is designed to provide a gold standard for professional education and certification in the international port and maritime industry and mirrors other professional certifications issued in various industrial disciplines. The professional certification issued by the International Association of Maritime and Port Executives shall be designated as AMPE. To qualify, individuals in the industry may apply to the IAMPE for certification. The requirements include a base program of education or certification.

The online program, known as Marsec Manager, is the brainchild of Bastion International, a maritime security brokerage company offering cost-effective security solutions to shipping companies from some of the best providers in the industry. Marsec Manager enables users to compare different PMSCs in terms of pricing and what they can offer before deciding which security solution is best for them.

Engine Oil Analysis Kit Launched

Jet-Care International and its parent company Spectro Oil Analysis Co. Ltd. introduced a new engine oil analysis kit and service for the marine market that can save long delays and expensive repairs. "With proper monitoring of oil and fluid systems, marine operators can significantly reduce wear caused by contamination from sea water, fresh water, fuel dilution or the use of incorrect lubricants and save long delays and expensive repairs," says Spectro chief chemist Colin Stevens-Hoare. "In bigger vessels, oil sumps are so large the oil's never or rarely changed. Most operators try and clean the oil, but some are complacent, relying on their purification equipment to remove contaminants.
