Superyachts & megayachts gather in the British Virgin Islands for regatta

New to the regatta for 2012 is the addition of a catamaran category.  The race is now divided into three classes: performance, cruising and catamaran, with a fleet of the world's fastest yachts competing to win the perpetual silver cup made by Garrard of London - the Boat International Media Trophy.  Among those participating are sailing yachts Zefira, sailing yacht of the year; Hanuman, last year's regatta winner; M/Y Chanticleer, a Classic 1973 Burger and M/Y Icon, among many others.

Hosted by Victor International, Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) and Boat International Media this is the second year of the Loro Piana Caribbean Superyacht Regatta to be held in the BVI. At the event the recent completion of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda Virgin Gorda, marina, club house and its facilites is also being celebrated

The regatta brings together yacht enthusiasts from all over the world to take advantage of the best cruising waters in the Caribbean.  A  fleet of 28 sailing and motor superyachts are in attendance to enjoy four days of racing and cruising,

With an idyllic location strategically positioned in the protected waters of the North Sound, Virgin Gorda - one of the safest, natural harbors in the Caribbean - the organizers say YCCS VG is well situated to take full advantage of the region's sailing waters.
