Tankerworld Expands

August 29, 2001

Tankerworld.com - the Internet tanker project incubated at Telemarine in London, has substantially expanded its coverage of the large tanker markets. The expansion comes after a surge of interest in the website from key tanker market players. Mikal Boe, Manager of Telemarine says: "We've now got over 7000 people logging on for some pretty unique analysis of the market. Users range from tanker owners to banks, oil companies and insurers. It's a top level audience we've secured here." Tankerworld, which runs to over 6000 webpages dedicated solely to the oil tanker industry, works closely with key tanker brokers and the expert analysis team at Seatrends. The expansion of the site includes a full directory of tanker brokers and agents, as well as extensive search facilities on anything related to ocean going tankers. This is in addition to the existing directories of owners, charterers, vessels and yards. According to Boe, the main attraction of Tankerworld is the interactive tanker fixture section that enables users to discover in some depth the current and past trading history of each tanker. "There are literally thousands of log-ons every day in this sector", says Boe. Boe concludes: "We've got a stable full of exciting media products which we aim to bring on stream over the next 6 - 9 months and hope the industry will stay with us as we grow." "We have absolutely no plans to enter the e-chartering race however. There are other companies which are better placed than us to do this," Boe adds.
