Taylor Made Debuts New Series of Air Conditions

July 23, 2003

Taylor Made Environmental has announced a family of redesigned compact, lightweight, high-efficiency marine air conditioning systems. The new self-contained seawater-cooled units are being sold under the Cruisair and Marine Air Systems brand names. Available in 5,000, 7,000, 10,000, 12,000 and 16,000 BTU capacities, the systems have been re-engineered with new compressors and evaporator coils, resulting in smaller size, lower weight, reduced amperage draw and improved reliability. According to Frank Marciano, president of Taylor Made Environmental, the new-design packaging applies to Marine Air Systems patented Vector Compact and Cool Mate series products, and Cruisair StowAway Compact (SXF) and Zephyr models. “We’ve just made small smaller,” said Marciano, who noted that the new units are more than 25% smaller and 20% lighter than other comparable air conditioners. “The introduction of these new air conditioners is an example of our ongoing commitment to meeting customer needs by developing smaller, lighter systems for today’s boats,” said Marciano. The new smaller-size units will be easier to install on boats with tight space constraints, according to Marciano. They can easily be fitted under a settee or vee-berth or in the bottom of a closet or locker, with air ducted to one or more discharge grills in the living space. Cruisair and Marine Air Systems air conditioners are sold to boatbuilders as original factory-installed equipment, and to the aftermarket through a global network of distributors and dealers.
