DOF Bags Shell’s Decommissioning Contract for Knarr and Gaupe Fields

Norwegian offshore vessel operator DOF Group has secured a ‘substantial’ subsea engineering procurement removal and disposal (EPRD) contract from Norske Shell in the Atlantic region.The contract outlines 100 combined days of utilization of DOF’s vessels Skandi Hera and Maersk Installer.DOF will deliver an integrated solution of project management, engineering, design, analysis and survey.Described as ‘substantial’ by DOF, this means that the contract is valued between $23.8 million and $47.8 million (NOK 250 million to NOK 500 million).The scope includes recovery and recycling of umbilicals…

DOF Set to Bring in $30M From Two New Projects

Norwegian offshore vessel operator DOF Group has secured two new projects – one in the North Sea and the other in Asia Pacific region – whose combined revenue is expected to bring in $30 million to the company. The first contract for DOF covers engineering, procurement, removal and disposal (EPRD) for a North Sea operator, including the project management, engineering, logistics and execution of an FPSO cessation project. According to DOF, it will disconnect, transport and pre-moor the floating unit, and retrieve and recycle the mooring system.

DOF Charters Jones Act-compliant Vessel for Work in the Gulf of Mexico

DOF Group announced it has struck a deal to charter a Jones Act-compliant offshore support vessel (OSV) for work in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico.The Norwegian-based company said it is time chartering Bordelon Marine's ultra light intervention vessel Connor Bordelon for a one-year period starting in March 2024. The deal includes an option for an additional year.Built by Bordelon Marine Shipbuilders in 2013, the 257-foot-long DP2 vessel is equipped with a SMST 60-ton active heave compensated (AHC) crane with 3,000 meters water depth capabilities.

DOF Sells PSV Skandi Captain

DOF Rederi, a fully owned subsidiary of Norway's DOF Group, on Wednesday entered into an agreement to sell the 2004-built, medium-size platform supply vessel (PSV) Skandi Captain to an undisclosed international buyer.The vessel is slated to be handed over to its new owner in the first quarter of 2024. DOF did not reveal the sale price but said the sale will have a "positive accounting effect".The 74.3-meter-long Skandi Captain is a MT 6009-FSV design PSV built by Myklebust Verft in Norway.

Solstad Offshore Sells Laid Up AHTS Vessel

Solstad Offshore's subsidiary, Solstad Rederi, has sold the Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) vessel Nor Spring.The 2008-built, 70-meter-long AHTS vessel has been in layup in Asia since 2020. DOF Secures Three Service Contracts with Petrobras Worth Over $260M

Norwegian offshore support vessel firm DOF said Monday it had won three new service contracts with the Brazilian oil firm Petrobras."The contracts were originated by a competitive bid process won by DOF and include work within our core service lines for Survey and Inspection," DOF said.These contracts represent a continuation of the services handled by DOF on the PIDF123 contracts signed with Petrobras in 2020 and under operation since December of that year.According to DOF, at least three vessels will be deployed to perform flexible pipeline, risers, and subsea equipment inspection in Campos Basin, Santos Basin, and Espírito Santos Basin. More than 3,200 inspections are expected to be executed.DOF did not say which vessel exactly would be deployed for these projects.

Port of Aberdeen's Shore Power Project to Dramatically Cut Vessel Emissions

Port of Aberdeen said Thursday it had been awarded funding from the UK Government for a multi-million-pound project to design and deliver the first large-scale landside and vessel-side shore power system in Scotland."The demonstrator project will cut vessel emissions at the berths by more than 80% compared with burning marine fuel and save in excess of 60,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over the next 20 years," Port of Aberdeen said.Crucially, the port said, ‘Shore Power in Operation’ will pave the way for the roll-out of green shore power across North Harbour.

Norwegian Offshore Firm DOF Completes Transfer of Skandi Neptune Vessel

Norwegian offshore vessel owner DOF has completed the sale of the Skandi Neptune construction support vessel.DOF had agreed to sell the 2001-built vessel to an unnamed "international buyer," in September 2021. It, at the time, said the 104.2 meter-long vessel, would be delivered to the new owner "after completing its current commitments."The vessel, at the time, worked in the Brazilian offshore sector.Skandi Neptune's AIS indicates that the ship arrived in Shanghai, China on Sunday after departing from Cyprus on August 1, 2023.

DOF Awarded Subsea Work off West Africa

Norway-based DOF Group on Monday announced it has been awarded a contract for one of its vessels offshore West Africa.The deal will see DOF's construction support vessel (CSV) Skandi Acergy support operations to install subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines (SURF) for an unnamed "tier 1 contractor and operator" in West Africa, DOF said. TechnipFMC, DOF-owned Vessel Catches Fire in Brazil

Skandi Buzios, a pipelay support vessel owned by TechnipFMC and DOF, caught fire Friday morning in a Brazilian port.The Brazilian media and some social media accounts on Friday showed images and videos of the burning vessel with thick smoke billowing above it and firefighters trying to quell the fire.The incident happened at Porto do Açu, in São João da Barra, in the Brazilian state of Rio de Janeiro, and no injuries have been reported.Offshore Engineer has reached out to TechnipFMC seeking more info. "On Friday morning, June 2, a fire occurred onboard Skandi Buzios while the vessel was alongside Porto do Açu in Brazil. All personnel are safe, and no serious injuries were sustained. Containership Towed to New Zealand After Mayday Call

A Singapore-registered containership that lost power and steering in heavy seas off the west coast of New Zealand has been towed to safety.The 5,100 TEU capacity Shiling requested assistance from Maritime New Zealand at around 8:30 a.m. local time Friday, after losing main propulsion while en route from Auckland to Wellington.The 294-meter-long containership started rolling severely after drifting into heavy swells about 22 nautical miles northwest of Farewell Spit and issued a mayday call at 11 a.m.

Norway-based offshore vessel owner DOF has secured a three-year contract for its anchor handling tug supply vessel (AHTS) Skandi Vega with the current charterer Equinor.The contract, which includes two one-year options, will start in direct continuation of the current contract.
