New Havyard Ship Technology Changes Its Name Back to Havyard Leirvik

New Havyard Ship Technology AS is changing its name to Havyard Leirvik AS following the recent restructuring of the yard’s activities and changes to company strategy.Part of the Havyard Group, Havyard Leirvik installs marine emissions reduction technology as well as other repair and modification services.CEO Karsten Sævik explains that the yard, which in 2018 celebrated its 100th anniversary, was formerly also named Havyard Leirvik. Quick Propeller Repair Prevents Drydocking

Recently a team of Hydrex diver/technicians performed a propeller blade cropping on a 190-meter container bulker berthed in Hamburg. Two parts of the tip of one of the four propeller blades were damaged and needed to be cropped to restore the propeller’s efficiency. Having developed different procedures for different kinds of damage, Hydrex teams are equipped and trained to make the best out of a bent or broken propeller. Ideally, the in-house developed cold straightening technique is used.

Wood Group Bags Statoil MSA

Wood Group has been awarded an evergreen master services agreement (MSA) by Statoil to support the life cycles of its offshore  and onshore facilities. Work and services covered by the MSA include  engineering studies, detailed engineering, procurement services and management  assistance services. “This MSA reflects Wood Group’s  strong relationship with Statoil,” stated Robin Watson, chief executive. Wood Group has supported Statoil for  many years. Recent work includes four  subsea contracts, support for the Statoil Technical Efficiency Programme (STEP),  and providing maintenance and modification services to four installations on  the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS).

Statoil Awards Mariner Contracts to UK Suppliers

Statoil (U.K.) Limited has awarded the maintenance and modification services contract for the Mariner field to Aker Solutions UK. The offshore services contract has been awarded to Stork Technical Services Limited, also based in the UK. Aker Solutions will perform the services for the Mariner field under a five-year contract, anticipated to start in August this year. Stork will commence services in January 2015, also under a five-year term. Both contracts include two 2-year extension options. The Mariner platform is currently under construction and production is scheduled to start in 2017. The contracts will support a significant number of the 700 onshore and offshore positions planned for the Mariner field.

UK Suppliers Win Statoil Contracts

Statoil (UK) Limited has awarded Aker Solutions UK with the maintenance and modification services contract for the Mariner field. Likewise, the offshore services contract was awarded to Stork Technical Services Limited (UK). Aker Solutions will perform the services for the Mariner field under a five-year contract, anticipated to start this August. Stork will begin its services in January 2015, also under a five-year term. Both contracts include two two-year extension options. The Mariner platform is currently under construction, with scheduled production to start in 2017.

HSOG, Chowgule Create India Offshore Service Hub

International oil and gas service specialist HSOG has joined forces with the Chowgule Group, a multi-industrial International conglomerate, to offer a full range of maintenance and modification services to the offshore sector to service the international market. HSOG will now offer services to the world offshore market from the Chowgule Groups newly built Lavgan Dockyard, situated midway between Mumbai and Goa on the west coast of India. The $200m shipyard development has been completed over the last five years, and offers full Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit (MODU) and Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) repair capability from a range of sheltered deep-water quays off the Arabian Sea.

Japanese Firm to Set Up Houston Compressor Plant

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Compressor Corporation (MCO), a group company of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI), is to establish MHI Compressor Manufacturing, LLC in Pearland, Texas, to produce and service oil industry compressor equipment. The company will produce and service compressors in the U.S. market to accommodate demand generated by rapid growth in shale gas and oil development. Supported by this growth, many new petrochemical plant construction projects are planned, and heavy demand for renewal of existing plants is expected.

Technip Win Offshore Angola BP Contract

Technip wins important 5-year contract for engineering & modification services on FPSO units offshore Angola, SW Africa. The BP Angola contract is for work concerning the existing Greater Plutonio and Plutao, Saturno, Venus and Marte (PSVM) floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units, located in Blocks 18 and 31 offshore Angola. This contract follows the successful completion of a previous five-year contract for engineering services for the Greater Plutonio FPSO. This new award covers two FPSOs and involves not only engineering, but also procurement and management of offshore and onshore construction activities. Technip’s operating center in Luanda, Angola will carry out the contract, which is scheduled for completion at the end of 2017.

Norwegian Shelf Subsea Contract for Aker Solutions

Aker Solutions wins a topside modification contract by Statoil to increase oil recovery at Gullfaks South. Estimated contract value is NOK 180 million. The main object of the project is to deliver topside modification for tie-in of two new templates, located at Gullfaks South, to Gullfaks A, plus topside modification for re-routing production from existing template D from Gullfaks A to Gullfaks C. Scope of work under the Gullfaks South increased oil recovery topside project includes engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning assistance (EPCIc). "This will be a challenging and exciting job. It is an important assignment for Aker Solutions, which shows that we are competitive on jobs in all levels of the market.

Large Offshore Platform Contract for Norway's Fabricom

The contract is for five years, with extension options of two periods of two years. The estimated contract value is 500 million kroner incliuding studies, detailed design, procurement, construction, and installation services. Fabricom expects the contract will create significant activity at its offices and facility in Stavanger, Norway as well as on Gjøa. “This contract is very important for Fabricom and contributes to strengthen our position as a competent provider of maintenance and modification services on the Norwegian shelf, declared Fabricom CEO Jens Chr. Terjesen in a statement. “The contract supports Fabricom’s long term business goals. We have initiated ambitious improvement processes where we now strengthen our expertise and execution capability,” he added.

Technip Continues Plan to Rebuild Fleet

Technip has reached several new milestones in relation to its strategy to renew and develop the Group’s subsea construction fleet. Technip has signed agreements with Norwegian ship owner, DOF, which provide commitments with respect to two of its new build vessels. First, Technip is teaming up with DOFCON, a subsidiary of DOF, for the joint ownership and management of its new build DP III DSV. This vessel will be mostly dedicated to the support of the Statoil frame agreement signed with Technip for diving, pipeline repair, contingency and modification services. Based on the Aker OSCV-06L design, 153 m long, she will be equipped with a 300T crane and a 24 man dive system built to Norwegian standards.
