Kongsberg Digital Advances ‘Simulation as a Service’ with BCIT

Kongsberg Digital has signed the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) as a pilot-customer for the cloud-based application of the sophisticated K-Sim simulation technology. BCIT will be among the first to offer simulation as a service by integrating K-Sim with the new Kognifai digital platform, to enable its students to train anytime and anywhere. Initially, Kongsberg Digital will focus on enabling students at BCIT’s School of Energy to use the K-Sim Engine Thermal Power Plant (TPP) simulator for industrial/utilities engineers, by giving them access to the simulator on their own devices. Bureau Veritas Launches Worldwide E-certification

Rolls-Royce Debuts Cloud-based Energy Management Module

Rolls-Royce has unveiled a ‘cloud-based’ fuel consumption and carbon dioxide monitoring module designed to help ship owners meet the European Union’s Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) regulation. Great Lakes Pilotages Go Live with Saab

The Canadian Great Lakes Pilotage Authority (GLPA) and the Great Lakes Pilotage Division of the U.S. Coast Guard have opened the 2017 shipping season using an upgraded Great Lakes Pilot Management System based on the latest version of Saab’s KleinPilot. The new system went live on schedule with the season opening. It is being used by the two organizations and the U.S. Great Lakes pilotage associations to manage the rostering and dispatch of the more than 100 marine pilots on the Great Lakes and automatically generate billing in accordance with the applicable tariffs.

Rolls-Royce has launched the next generation of its Energy Management (EM) System. The system will allow customers to reduce energy usage, fuel consumption and operating costs whilst supporting environmental compliance and providing performance information that enables the ship to comply with SEEMP rules and IMO regulations. The Energy Management System offers customers a more data-driven performance management and decision making approach. Kongsberg's K-IMS Passes 100 LNG Installations

The Kongsberg Information Management System (K-IMS) has now had more than 100 installations for vessel owners and charterers in the LNG sector. As interest in data-sharing for operational efficiency grows in the LNG sector, Kongsberg  has conducted several successful customer trials to show the capabilities and benefits of integrating K-IMS in the last year. DNV GL Rolls Out Forecasting Platform

DNV GL has announced its launch of Forecaster NOW, the industry’s first forecast on-demand web portal with e-commerce enabled transactions. Forecaster NOW is part of a suite of DNV GL subscription-based short-term forecasting services which also includes: Forecaster Live, Forecaster Plus and Forecaster Solutions. “Power grids and markets will continue their rapid transformation to a low carbon system,” said Craig Collier, head of forecasting for the Americas at DNV GL. Forecaster NOW provides users with on-demand forecasts of select power markets with hourly resolution to seven days.
