Finland-based marine engine and technology specialist Wärtsilä has signed agreements with the Japanese shipping group MMS to optimize maintenance and emissions for two MMS LNG carriers and maximize engine uptime.Wärtsilä said the agreements were designed to deliver maximized engine uptime and long-term cost predictability, optimizing maintenance for the highest efficiency, and lowest carbon footprint.The project includes Wärtsilä’s digital predictive maintenance solution, Expert Insight.

Dutch offshore and dredging contractor Van Oord said Tuesday it would lay off 500 people, citing effects of COVID-19 on its business.Van Oord said: "As a company operating on a global scale, COVID-19 is having a major impact on our business. Market conditions in the dredging industry are under pressure and the volatility in oil- and gas prices also triggers a decrease of offshore field services. Consequently, we face a decline in our turnover and a deterioration of our results,"As a result, the company said it expected to reduce its workforce by 500 people.

Seaspan Ship Management selected Alfa Laval to help resolve steam balance and redundancy issues connected to sulfur-compliant fuels. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a member of Abu Dhabi's Executive Council and Supreme Petroleum Council and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Transport, inaugurated the latest addition to Adnoc Logistics & Services' shipping fleet.The Abu Dhabi-based provider of shipping, maritime, port, logistics and oil field services said that the acquisition of the 2,850 TEUs large feeder vessel, Al Reem 1, brings Adnoc L&S's fleet to 123 vessels.Adnoc L&S revealed its plan to acquire its first crude oil tankers, while expanding its gas and dry bulk fleet, by adding more than 25 vessels within the next five years.Zayed Al Nahyan updated on Adnoc L&S strategic growth plans, which will transform it into a global shipping champion.

Aker Solutions reports Q4 2018 revenue of $813 million, an 8% rise compared to Q4 2017 powered by “significant international awards in a competitive, but improving market.” In total, order intake for the quarter was $615.6 million, leaving the company with an order backlog of more than $4 billion. Saudi Aramco has awarded major stimulation and well-testing contract to Baker Hughes, a GE company (BHGE). BHGE will deliver a comprehensive well services solution including all cased-hole wireline logging, perforation, well testing, stimulation, fracturing and associated intervention services.By integrating discrete products, services and capabilities into a single offering, BHGE will help Saudi Aramco reduce time, costs and complexity while increasing efficiency.The three-year contract includes the option of two one-year extensions and the project is expected to commence in December 2018.The work is expected to create more than 200 new engineering…

Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group announces that it has agreed to acquire EnerMech Group Ltd, an international services company providing critical asset support to the energy, infrastructure and industrials sectors, from Lime Rock Partners.The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2018, subject to customary anti-trust and regulatory approvals.Equity for this investment will come from Carlyle International Energy Partners (CIEP), a $2.5 billion fund that invests in the global oil and gas sector outside North America. The Fund’s mandate includes exploration & production, mid-stream, downstream and oil field services.

Offshore oil services firm Subsea 7 has announced the award of a sizeable contract by Fieldwood Energy to Subsea Integration Alliance, a global partnership between Subsea 7 and OneSubsea, a Schlumberger company.The award is for the deepwater Katmai field development in the US Gulf of Mexico’s Green Canyon 40, said a press release from the company.This supplier-led integrated subsea development solution, combines OneSubsea’s subsea production systems (SPS) and Subsea 7’s subsea umbilicals, riser and flowline systems (SURF) expertise.The Subsea 7 scope includes project management, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of 40 km of pipe-in-pipe production flowline (12” outer pipe and 8” inner pipe)…

Subsea services provider DeepOcean has been awarded a long-term contract involving subsea life of field services on Equinor-operated fields. The award covers onshore project management, engineering and offshore operations utilising a variety of vessels within the DeepOcean fleet of high quality vessels. Offshore operations may include life of lield services such as standard inspection and survey work involving use of Work Class and Observation class ROVs, installation and replacement of subsea modules and X-mas trees using Module Handling Systems as well as scale squeeze operations and installation of structures. The contract is call-off based and has a firm duration of 5 years, starting in January 2019.

Russian oil producer Rosneft and the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) have agreed an outline deal to work together on a number of “strategic” projects in Iran together worth up to $30 billion, Reuters reported quoting Rosneft’s head Igor Sechin as saying. The potential collaboration with Iran would further strengthen Rosneft’s position in the Middle East, the company having already secured a number of deals in the region, including the acquisition of a majority stake in Iraqi Kurdistan’s main oil pipeline. Similarly, it can also be said that if you’ve seen one dredging operation, well, then you’ve seen one dredging operation.

The impact of the oil market cycle reaching its bottom was felt in Bourbon in the first half of 2016, as the company announced first half 2016 adjusted revenues of €599.2 million, a 21 percent decline year on year and 11.7 percent reduction compared to 2H 2015. Bourbon believed that its large market share and young fleet were keys to keeping it stronger while others failed, but it appears that the market has caught up to the company too. -- In the segments Deep and Shallow water, Bourbon anticipates the bottom of the market in Q3 2016, due to the late cyclical nature of this business.

Glendinning is charged with driving consistent profitable growth, and developing new sales opportunities for the service business of Alfa Laval in the U.S. His responsibilities include leading parts sales, reconditioning services, field services and technical support activities. Glendinning joined Alfa Laval in 1982 as Marine Engineer for the company’s military products group.

U.S. shipbuilder Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) announced today a number of changes across its leadership team. HII’s Board of Directors has elected Christopher D. Kastner to succeed Barbara A. Niland as the company’s chief financial officer and corporate vice president, business management, effective with Niland’s retirement on March 1, 2016. Furthermore Philip Luna, corporate vice president and president, UniversalPegasus International (UPI), a subsidiary of HII, has been promoted to the HII senior executive team, effective immediately.

Subsea 7 and Houston-based OneSubsea have announced the signing a global alliance agreement to combine resources and collaborate on selected projects. The firms will jointly design, develop and deliver integrated subsea development solutions. OneSubsea is owned by Cameron and Schlumberger. The alliance will bring together Subsea 7’s experience and technology in seabed to surface engineering, construction and life-of-field services with OneSubsea’s unique reservoir expertise and state-of-the-art subsea production and processing systems technologies. The alliance will combine both companies’ resources to collaborate on selected projects, engaging early to improve field development planning from the reservoir to the production facility.

Cost-cutting in Britain's North Sea oil and gas sector could lead to more acute skills shortages in future, industry experts have warned, with some expressing concerns that safety could be compromised. A plunge in crude prices over the last 12 months has prompted oil majors such as Royal Dutch Shell, BP , Chevron and ConocoPhillips to lay off hundreds of workers. Oil field services groups such as Amec Foster Wheeler , Wood Group and Petrofac are also in consultation with employees over job cuts.
