Solstad Reups, Expands Deal with Marlink

Norwegian offshore services and supply vessel company Solstad Offshore has renewed its connectivity contract with Marlink, committing 65 offshore vessels to Sealink, Marlink’s high-throughput Ku-band VSAT service. Orbit Wins Naval Satcom Systems Order

Communications company Orbit Communications Systems Ltd. announced today that a major Asian Navy ordered Orbit’s maritime satcom systems totaling approximately $1.1 Million. Intellian’s V65 Antenna Packs a Punch

Live network testing conducted by Marlink over the newest Intelsat EpicNG High Throughput Ku-band satellite demonstrates that the v65 system will enable users to achieve high throughput connectivity for vessels of all sizes. Acta Marine Inks VSAT Deal with Alphatron Marine

Alphatron Marine announced it has signed a leasing agreement with Acta Marine for to provide satellite hardware and data solution packages for 13 vessels. Alphatron Marine VSAT Systems for 11 Workboats

Alphatron Marine has signed a lease contract with Seacontractors for no less than 11 vessels to provide satellite hardware and data solution packages. Alphatron Marine’s VSAT system will be installed alongside the existing IT infrastructure on nine Seacontractors B-Class workboats and two A-Class workboats, consisting of Anchor Handling Tug Supply (AHTS) and Multicats, mainly operating in Western Europe and the Middle East. Alphatron Marine’s solution will include an 80cm VSAT system, 19-inch rack, access points, switching, routing, UPS, modem and VoIP gateway.

Imtech Wins Northern Lighthouse VSAT Contract

Remote monitoring enables early detection of problems and correction of system faults. Imtech Marine has been awarded a three-year contract by Northern Lighthouse Board to provide VSAT systems with connectivity and value added services. The contract also includes maintenance services for the five vessels operated by Northern Lighthouse Board and Trinity House in the U.K. The five vessels maintain safe shipping lanes around the Scottish and English sectors of the British Isles coastline.

Selex ES Provides Further VSAT Solutions

The UK Marine business of Selex ES, a Finmeccanica company, has completed a contract to supply a Ku-Band Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) system, including a five-year airtime package, for use on the Serco vessel SD Victoria. VSAT engineers from Selex ES’ UK office network carried out the installation and commissioning, beginning in Greenock and completing in Portland. This is the second successful Selex ES deployment of VSAT for Serco and complements that previously supplied to the SD Northern River. The completion of this contract further strengthens a longstanding relationship between Serco and Selex ES’ Marine business: and extends Selex ES’ role in connecting and protecting stakeholder communities.

Globe Wireless R6 for Globe iFusion Launched at Posidonia

Globe Wireless is a leading player in providing communications, operational and IT solutions to the maritime industry. Earlier this summer at Posidonia 2012 in Athens the company announced that it would launches its latest software release, R6 for Globe iFusion in  July 2012; a free upgrade to all existing users. MTN Satellite for MV Beluga Shanghai

MTN Satellite Communications (MTN) announced that it has been selected by German project- and heavy-lift carrier Beluga Shipping to install a broadband VSAT system on the new MV Beluga Shanghai. Beluga Shanghai is one of Beluga’s new P-class series of super heavy-lift vessels, which offers crane capacities between 800 and 1,400 tons and loading capacities of up to 20,000 deadweight tons. The shipboard VSAT’s will use MTN’s Ku-band network, which provides coverage over most of the major sea lanes around the world. The ship will also be equipped with Inmarsat Fleet Broadband 500 satellite terminals, which will be used as a secondary satellite connection with automatic switchover when out of Ku-band coverage area.
