Russia Sea Ports Throughput Up 5.7% in 2014
Russia's sea ports (including the ports of Crimea) handled 623.4 million metric tons of cargo in 2014, up 5.7% from 2013, according to the data from the National Association of Commercial Sea Ports.
The total throughput of liquid cargo fell by 0.8% during the period to 331 million metric tons, while dry cargo throughput increased by 14.1% to 292.4 million tons.
Transshipment of dry bulk cargo totaled 292.4 mln t (+14.1%) including 116.3 mln t of coal (+15.1%), 46.8 mln t of containerized cargo (+5.3%), 29.7 mln t of grain (up 1.6 times), 23.3 mln t of ferrous metal (+5.9%), 14.7 mln t of mineral fertilizers (+13.7%), 11.1 mln t of cargoes carried by ferries (up 1.7 times), 4.8 mln t of timber (+9.6%) and 4.7 mln t of scrap metal (+27.9%). Transshipment of ore fell to 6.1 mln t (-18.0%), refrigerated cargo – to 3.6 mln t (-2.1%), non-ferrous metals – to 3.3 mln t (-12.5%).
Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo totaled 331.0 mln t (-0.8%) including 187.2 mln t of crude (-9.8%), 128.0 mln t of oil products (+14.5%) and 12.2 mln t of liquefied gas (+10.2%).
Transshipment of export cargo totaled 491.6 mln t (+6.7%, year-on-year), import - 43.4 mln t (-5.7%), transit - 47.6 mln t (+1.4%), coastal trade cargo – 40.8 mln t (+13.2%).
