Tuscan FSRU to be Moved Offshore by 2026

Italy's LNG Import Capacity and New Terminals

Italy plans to boost its liquefied natural gas (LNG) import capacity to 27 billion cubic metres (bcm) from nearly 17 bcm currently as it seeks to completely replace Russian gas supplies following Moscow's invasion of Ukraine.In 2021, Moscow provided Rome with 29 bcm of gas via pipelines, equal to around 40% of Italy's total imports but Russian supplies have fallen in recent months to around 10% of total imports. Enel, Fincantieri to Study Use of Green Hydrogen in Ports & Shipping

Costa Cruises Completes Italy's First LNG Bunkering

Fincantieri Launches Emilio Bianchi

Italian Shipbuilding Company Fincantieri has officially launched the "Emilio Bianchi" frigate, the tenth and last FREMM (Multi Mission European Frigates) vessel at the integrated shipyard of Riva Trigoso (Genoa).The ship has been launched with the combat system and platform equipment already installed onboard and fully integrated. Savona's Cruise Terminal Renovated

EUROGATE Net Profit Up 13%

EUROGATE can look back on a good financial year, 2015. Despite difficult market conditions the European terminal operators Group increased its net profit by 13.4 percent to EUR 73.5 million (prior year EUR 64.9 million). Container handling at the German EUROGATE locations grew faster than the market. In Bremerhaven, Wilhelmshaven and Hamburg EUROGATE 2015 hit with 8.2 million standard containers (TEU) 1.5 percent more boxes in order as 2014. The entire North Range ports recorded in the same period dropped by 1.6 percent. The total amount of the turned-up in the European group_container totaled 14.5 million TEU two percent on the previous year and corresponded to the market development: The total throughput of European ports 2015 was also increased by two percent rückläufig1.

Sixth FREMM Frigate Launched

Today the launching ceremony of the frigate Luigi Rizzo took place at the plant in Riva Trigoso (Genova). The sixth of a series of 10 units FREMM - European Multi-Mission Frigates, was commissioned from Fincantieri by the Navy Italian in the framework of international cooperation between Italy and France, with the coordination of OCCAR, the joint organization for European cooperation in armaments. Godmother to the ship was Wilhelmina Maria Rizzo, daughter of Luigi Rizzo, two gold medals for bravery. APM Terminals Pact with Qingdao Port

Leaders from Qingdao Port Group met with APM Terminals executives in The Hague to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the APM Terminals Vado, Italy port project. Terms and investment amount were not disclosed. The MOU will create a new joint venture to invest in and work with other potential partners. APM Terminals Vado is a new terminal in northern Italy, which when opened in January 2018 will handle both containerized and liquid bulk cargoes – and integrated operationally with the existing 275,000 annual TEU capacity Vado Reefer Terminal facility, which was acquired by APM Terminals in August 2015. The Italian government is providing EUR 300 million for civil works for the project.

4 STS, 14 ARMG Cranes for APM Vado Terminal

APM Terminals signed an agreement for the construction and delivery of four Ship-to-Shore (STS) Gantry Cranes and 14 Automated Rail-Mounted Gantry Cranes (ARMGs) for the new APM Terminals Vado terminal now under construction on Italy’s Ligurian coast. The new terminal, the first new major port construction in Italy in several decades, is scheduled to open in January 2018 with an annual throughput capacity of 800,000 TEUs, and the ability to handle vessels up to 18,000 TEU capacity. The Italian government is providing EUR 300 million for civil works for the project. APM Terminals is investing EUR 150 million in the new terminal which will create 450 new jobs when operations commence.

Fincantieri's Riva Trigoso (Genoa) shipyard celebrates the launch of the frigate “Carlo Margottini”, the third of a series of Fremm vessels - Multi Mission European Frigates, ordered from Fincantieri by the Italian Navy within the framework of an Italo-French program of cooperation. Godmother to the ship was Ms. Stefania Portaccio, granddaughter of Captain Carlo Margottini. The frigate was named in honour of Captain Carlo Margottini, who was decorated for military valour after the sinking of Nave Artigliere in 1940.

MIP Estimates Costa Crociere S.p.A.'s Economic Impact

In 2010, Costa Crociere S.p.A. generated an impact of over $3.2 billion on the Italian economy. This is one of the findings of a study carried out by MIP, the Milan Polytechnic Business School. Costa Crociere S.p.A. is an Italian company headquartered in Genoa, which comprises 3 brands (the Costa Cruises brand, Aida Cruises for the German market, and Iberocruceros, which operates mainly for the Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking markets). It is one of Italy’s top 10 most profitable companies and ranks 49th in terms of turnover in Mediobanca’s 2010 survey of over 3,700 Italian enterprises that recorded revenue of at least $73 million the previous fiscal year.
