Transas ECDIS Earns DNV-GL Certification

DNV-GL has issued an official certificate for the Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS after Transas passed type-approval in November 2015. The new generation of the Transas ECDIS is the first sytem in the market certified by DNV-GL according to the latest IHO and IEC standards. New IHO editions of S-52 and S-64 and new ECDIS testing specification IEC 61174 entered into force in August 2015 and require all vessels to be updated with the new software within the deadline which is currently set as September 2016.

Transas ECDIS Passes New IHO & IEC Standards

Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS has passed all DNV-GL tests according to the new IHO & IEC standards. The new generation of the Transas ECDIS complies with the latest requirements and provides a number of features beyond this. The production of the new Transas system will start in January with deliveries from February 1, 2016. New IHO editions of S-52 and S-64 and new ECDIS testing specification IEC 61174 entered into force in August 2015. The new standards are intended to overcome shortcomings, ECDIS anomalies and safety critical issues identified by all stakeholders including IMO, IEC and IHO, and will affect new installations and previously installed ECDIS. Normally new standards would not affect installed systems, but in this particular case the ā€œGrandfather Clauseā€ is overruled.

ECDIS Ordered for 20 Indonesia Surveillance Vessels

Transas ECDIS has been selected for installation on board 20 surveillance vessels under operation of the Directorate General of Marine Resources and Fisheries Surveillance, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (PSDKP ā€“ KKP), Republic of Indonesia. The systems will be supplied and installed in cooperation with the Transas long-term local partner PT MultiIntegra. ā€œTransas ECDIS will be integrated with main sensors such as GPS, Gyro, Speed Log, Wind Sensor and also AIS Transponder that can be operated in silence mode,ā€ said Director of Surveillance Vessel ā€“ Directorate General of Marine Resources and Fisheries Surveillance Ir. Korean Registry Okays Transas ECDIS

Transas, one of the world's leading providers of integrated navigation solutions, received ECDIS type-approval from the Korean Registry (Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute), making Transas one of a few companies holding an ECDIS certificate from the South Korean maritime authority. The certificate issued by the Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute proves the system's compliance with all ECDIS-related regulations valid for the South Korean Flag state and covers not only Navi-Sailor ECDIS in Premium and Standard configurations, but also all Transas supplementary components for usability benefits and system integration. All tests were successfully passed within one week at the certified Transas R&D facilities.

Maersk to Install Transas ECDIS on 100 Vessels

Maersk Line, the world's largest container company, has selected Transas Marine for ECDIS implementation on more than 100 vessels, Transas announced today. The contract features the Transas Navi-Sailor ECDIS 4000 in dual configuration plus a back-up station on each vessel. According to the agreement signed between Maersk Line and Transas Marine, existing Electronic Chart Display & Information Systems will be upgraded to the latest version of the Transas Navi-Sailor ECDIS Multifunction Display with two ECDIS stationsā€¦

Transas ECDIS Chosen by Maersk Tankers Again

The IMO requirement has phased installation of ECDIS on board all ships, beginning July 2012. Maersk Tankers, one of the worldā€™s largest product tanker companies, has selected Transas to address this by implementing ECDIS compliance program across the Maersk Tankersā€™ fleet. The agreement includes ECDIS installations for both retrofit and for newbuilt vessels for Maersk Tankers. Swedish Transport Approves Transas ECDIS Training

Transas Marine International has received Transportstyrelsen (Swedish Transport Agency) approval for its STCW conform generic ECDIS training. After successful formal and on-site Transportstyrelsen audits, Transas ECDIS training course was certified successfully and will be re-audited according to the regular Transportstyrelsen audit cycle. ECDIS Training offered by Transas Marine follows the IMO Model Course 1.27 fully compliant to the STCW 2010, which is compulsory for training from 1st of January 2012. This allows Transas to issue STCW 2010 compliant ECDIS training certificates.

ULTRAGAS Chooses Transas ECDIS Solutions

ECDIS manufacturer Transas Marine was awarded a contract for the supply of Dual ECDIS to ULTRAGAS, an ULTRANAV company and owner and operator of highly specialized vessels for transportation of Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) and petro-chemical gases with years of experience in this demanding segment of shipping. As a part of the contract, ULTRAGAS has ordered Dual Navi-Sailor ECDIS Multifunction Display (MFD) sets with Radar overlay for installation on board of five additional vessels.

Transas ECDIS and Chart Service for Hellenic Carriers

Transas Hellas will supply ECDIS and Official Charts to Hellenic Carriers Corporation S.A. according to agreement recently signed between two companies. Hellenic Carriers Corporationā€™s fleet will be equipped with the Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS in premium configuration and Transas Admiralty Data Service (TADS) providing a comprehensive and official chart data service. All vessels will shift to paperless navigation immediately after installation is completed. The first two new built vessels have been already commissioned and now sail on the Transas ECDIS.

Minerva and Transas Partner for Paperless Navigation

Transas Hellas has recently agreed with Minerva Marine Inc. to equip its fleet with ECDIS and official charts aiming to shift within a specified timeframe to paperless navigation. In addition to the premium line of Transas ECDIS and Transas Admiralty Data Service TADS (official ENCs), Minerva Marine has decided to deploy additional back up arrangements both for hardware and software, including Transas TX-97 vector charts. Five vessels of the fleet have already been commissioned and are currently implementing the transition procedures from paper to paperless navigation. Minerva Marine Inc.

Transas Data Service: Five Years on the Market

Transas marks the fifth anniversary of its Transas Admiralty  Data Service (TADS) providing a comprehensive and official chart data service to the market. Transas, an ECDIS manufacturer, in conjunction with the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) launched Transas Admiralty Data Service (TADS) in 2008. TADS is based on 100% official ENC data from the UKHO converted in SENC format and optimized for use on Transas ECDIS. Since its launch, TADS has evolved into a complete set of data services required by mariners for voyage planning and navigation purposes, and today itā€™s far more than just official ENC data service. TADS now includes Admiralty digital publications, weather services and Admiralty  Information Overlay with T&P Notices to Mariners.

Resolve Maritime Academy Joins ECDIS Training Network

Resolve Maritime Academy has joined the Transas Global ECDIS Training Network, known as Get-Net. The Academy recently expanded its Fort Lauderdale, Florida training facilities, adding a second ECDIS classroom with Transas simulation software and Transas ECDIS to meet the high demand for Generic and Type-Specific ECDIS training. The training partnership with Transas allows Resolve Maritime Academy to comply with all Flag State, Port State Control and Classification Society requirements and to better serve its global client base, in time for the new ECDIS training requirement deadlines.

EDCIS Order: Transas to Supply Twenty-Eight Ships

Transas Marine Denmark contracted by A/S to supply & install 28 Navi-Sailor 4000 Multifunction Display Dual ECDIS units. Transas is also to upgrade another six Eitzen Chemical vessels to the latest hardware and software ECDIS standards over the next two years. The package for each vessel includes 2 x 26" Hatteland monitors, RS6B computers, radar overlay and Firewall enabling a direct connection between the vessel's satellite communication equipment and the Transas ECDIS. After the installations, all vessels will run the unique "Pay As You Sail" chart concept from Transas.

TORM chooses Transas Marine Dual ECDIS

TORM has chosen Transas Marine as an ECDIS supplier for five of its vessels. Navi-Sailor 4000 Dual ECDIS will be installed on five L-Class Tankers. Along with this, Transas Marine will supply and install 1 x ā€˜Back of the Bridgeā€™ station on each of the five vessels, and the vessels will thereby obtain 3 x fully operational ECDIS stations. Transas Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS ā€˜Back of the Bridgeā€™ planning station is based on the 24ā€™ā€™ Panel PC. It includes Navi-Planner with full voyage plan functionality and ECDIS Software. Installation has been completed on the vessel ā€œTORM LOUISEā€, and remaining 4 vessels will be equipped in the following months. In addition, Transas Marine has upgraded eight other TORM vessels to the latest hard- and software versions.

ECDIS Workbook from Transas Marine

In response to the growing demand in ECDIS Training and in order to contribute to the knowledge improvement on ECDIS use, Transas Marine has published an ECDIS Workbook which can be used together with the Transas ECDIS demo software, both available for free download from the companyā€™s website. According to the STCW 2010 Code, ECDIS training is mandatory for all Deck officers serving on board ships fitted with ECDIS equipment. The main goal of the ECDIS Demo Workbook is to provide the vesselā€™s crew with knowledge, understanding and proficiency in the use of Navi-Sailor 4000 ECDIS and Chart Assistant Utility. The workbook is designated for nautical officers and other persons in charge of navigational tasks, and consists of theoretical and practice parts.

Resolve Maritime Academy Joins Training Network

Resolve Maritime Academy became the first major training center in the USA to join the Transas Global ECDIS Training Network GET-Net. Resolve Maritime Academy, LLC is a subsidiary of Resolve Marine Group, Inc. a  leader in emergency response and vessel salvage. Joining the Global GET-Net ECDIS training network, represents another step in Resolve Maritime Academyā€™s recent expansion of programs and offerings, and follows the extensive implementation of full mission and classroom simulators from Transas at their 17th Street facility in Fort Lauderdale, during 2011 and 2012. Although offering specific capabilities aimed at the Cruise Industry, the simulators are designed with the flexibility to be utilized for training applications across a wide spectrum of maritime users.

Batumi State Maritime Academy Upgrades its Simulator Complex

Batumi, Georgia. Batumi State Maritime Academy (BSMA) upgraded its training facility with the latest simulators from Transas. The main goals of establishing this advanced training facility is to educate qualified specialists who will join the maritime commercial fleet and maritime transport infrastructure; and provide a learning process that adheres to modern requirements and educational programs, which will help students to receive the knowledge and professional skills necessary for their profession. The project included installation of a full mission engine room simulator ERS 5000 that simulates MAN B&W 6S50MC-C Diesel Engine Product Tanker Ship Model. The system is integrated with existing navigational simulator NTPRO 5000 and provides for joint training of engine room and bridge teams.

Batumi, in the Autonomous Repuplic of Georgia, upgrades simulators at its nautical training facility. The project included installation of a full mission engine room simulator ERS 5000 that simulates MAN B&W 6S50MC-C Diesel Engine Product Tanker Ship Model. The system is integrated with existing navigational simulator NTPRO 5000 and provides for joint training of engine room and bridge teams. The simulator replicates the operation of product tanker machinery, bridge and power systems which will enable BSMA to train marine technicians in realistic situations, without risk to people or vessels.

Transas Adds Ukrainian Chart Folios to its TX-97 Collection

Transas TX-97 non-official chart collection now includes Ukrainian chart folios. The agreement was signed between Transas Marine Ltd and the State Hydrographic Service of Ukraine in May 2012 allowing Transas to use official ENCā€™s and Inland ENCā€™s to create TX-97 folios. New charts will be available for the users of Transas ECDIS and ECS. The uniqueness of this project is that it is the first time when Inland ENCā€™s were used to produce TX-97 folios. State Hydrographic Service of Ukraine provided 158 Inland ENCā€™s and 114 ENCā€™s covering territorial waters of Ukraine in Black Sea and Sea of Azov.
