Transas Shifts Sole Focus to Maritime Sector

Arranging new changes to its brand positioning, the Transas Group informs it will now focus its efforts solely in the maritime market. The group’s shareholders made the decision to focus the Transas brand on the maritime business only, taking into account the success of Transas and its brand awareness in the maritime IT market and dominating position in several key segments of this market, Transas explained. The group’s other business segments, including aviation technologies and non-marine simulation, will be rebranded in accordance with the new strategy.

Transas will equip 2 tankers for Palmali Shipping

Transas Group and Armada Shipyard (Turkey) have signed a contract for installation of navigation and communication equipment on the two tankers built for the Palmali Shipping, a major oil cargo carrier. The tankers are built in accordance with new series of Armada project RST22M, DWT 7150. Within the contract Armada Shipyard will install a set of radio and navigation equipment including Integrated Bridge System, radio communication console, Intercom and alarm system, DGLONASS and DGPS receivers and other systems. Installations will take place in October 2014 and January 2015 respectively. Dmitry Lagoutin, managing director of Transas Navigator Ltd.

Orolia, Transas Partner to Offer e-Maritime Solutions

Transas Streamlines Marine Management Structure

Transas Group has announced today the appointment of Andrey Belentiev as the Group's Director of the Marine Business Unit. Andrey Belentiev, former Managing Director of Transas (JSC), Russian marine business entity, is now in charge of the Transas marine business worldwide. RS Reaches Several Agreements at Neva

During the maritime Neva exhibition, taking place this week in St Petersburg, Russia, a number of agreements were signed promoting use of advanced IT solutions and enhancement of professional training within the maritime industry. Admiral S. O. Makarov State University of Sea and River Fleet, classification society Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS), Petrobalt Design Office and the Dutch company Numeriek Centrum Groningen (NCG) signed a quadripartite agreement on the establishment of NUPAS-CADMATIC Training and Innovation Center. PJMTM Center Earns ClassNK Certification

ClassNK announced that it has certified the type specific ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) training courses provided by the newly established ECDIS training center, Philippines-Japan Maritime Training Management Inc. US DP Training Lab Launches NI Accredited Course

Le Havre Utilizes Transas Simulator

Pilotage Maritimes du Havre, the famous French pilot station, has chosen a Transas bridge simulator to be used for training professional seafarers at their premises. Transas Opens New Office

In December 2003, the Transas R&D center in St.Petersburg, Russia, changed its location. The new office occupies a five-story modern building situated in the Vasilievskiy Island, one of the most beautiful areas of the St. Petersburg city. Transas VTS Chosen for Offshore Wind Farm Project

The German aids-to-navigation-service, WSD Nord-West/WSA Emden, has decided to install Transas shore-based Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) technology on board the first research platform for planned Offshore Wind Farms. The VTS technology will enable the authorities to survey and assess the navigational traffic density in the German North Sea. June 11, 2004 was a very big day for the advancement of maritime training as the Pacific Maritime Institute (PMI) introduced its full mission simulator in a new 15,000 sq. ft. building in Seattle, Wash. Gregg Trunnell, PMI's director set the tone for the day when he said during dedication remarks, "Oceangoing vessels are not simple pieces of equipment and the days of cabin boys and shanghaied crew members are over. Trunnell also noted that maritime schools are few and far between and often students had to travel to a number of states to get a single certification. "With the opening of this new facility, those days are gone forever for mariners in the Pacific northwest," Trunnell noted.

Transas Group Demos New Tech

On the April 11, 2005, Transas presented Virtual Ship, created and based on the latest developments in the field of three-dimensional technologies, at the St. Petersburg stand at the international Hanover Industrial Trade Fair. According to the plan of the St. Petersburg Administration, President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin and German Counselor, Gerhard Shroyder were expected to take a virtual journey aboard this unique starship. The excursion route, created by Transas upon request from the St. Petersburg Administration, included visiting the native city of Vladimir Putin - St. Petersburg, a star-flight to the International Space Station and to Antarctica.

HHI and Transas Hand New Vessel Over to PRISCO

The New tanker Pavel Chernish built by Hyundai Heavy Industries Ltd as part of the 1599 – 1603 project, was handed over to the Primorsk Shipping Corporation (PRISCO). Pavel Chernish is a vessel of ice class 1A according to the DNV classification and fully complies with the requirements of Exxon Neftegaz Ltd, subsidiary of Exxon Mobile. The tankers are designed for oil transportation within the Sakhalin – 1 project. The second tanker of the series will be handed to PRISCO in the near future. The Hyundai Heavy Industries Shipyard will build a total of five vessels during the project. The Transas Group equipped these tankers with the new integrated navigation system, Hyundai-Transas Intelligent Bridge System (HTiBS).

Transas Navi-Sailor 3000 on German Navy Vessels

Transas Europe GmbH, the European representative of Transas Group, is part of the team that will supply a new suite of navigational systems to the entire German Navy fleet. The contract to equip all the German Navy ships was awarded to a group of companies led by ET Marinesysteme GmbH as prime contractor, an equally shared joint venture between EADS and Thales. The final contract was raised by the Federal Office of Defence Technology and Procurement (BWB) and signed in September 2005 for the system supply to start later this year and to be completed in 2009. The navigational suite for almost 100 ships will consist of Transas Navi-Sailor 3000 ECDIS, (U)AIS-Transponders of Saab Transpondertech AB and navigational ARPA Radars, supplied by Sperry Marine BV.
