O&G Saturation Divers Complete Cross-Atlantic Row
A group of four saturation divers from the U.K. recently rowed across the Atlantic Ocean to tackle a challenge of lifetime while raising money for a local cancer charity.Chris Ayres, Lewis Locke, James Piper and Andy Tawâall employed by Helix Energy Solutions Group as deep sea saturation diversâtook part in âThe 2021 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challengeâ, which saw the four men row 3,000 miles from La Gomera, the Canary Islands, to Antigua in The Caribbean to raise money for Wessex Cancer Trust.
Distressed British Royal Air Force Rowers Landed
Four members of the British Royal Air Force were rescued by the crew of the bulk carrier 'Hedvig Bulker' and are now back on dry land after a treacherous 51 day, trans-Atlantic attempt from Spain to Antigua in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, informs the US Coast Guard. Rescued were the Atlantic Forces rowing team: Jane McIntosh, Warren Burns, Howard Raw and Elizabeth Beauchamp. Atlantic Air Force Rowers Rescued by Amver Ship
The crew of four British Royal Air Force personnel (2 men and 2 women) from 216 Squadron and 47 Squadron based at Royal Air Force Brize Norton, competing in the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, have been rescued by the AMVER particating ship MV Hedvik Bulker. The four were rowing from San Sebastian de la Gomera, Tenerife when when they developed rudder problems and alerted rescue authorities in Falmouth, UK who in turn notified U.S. Coast Guard rescue personnel in Sector San Juan.

Trimaran Ferry Enters Service
âBenchijigua Expressâ, the 127 metre high speed trimaran built by Austal for Fred Olsen, S.A. has arrived and entered service in the Canary Islands. Following her handover and departure from Fremantle, Australia on 13 April the vehicle-passenger ferry sailed to Tenerife via Cape Town arriving at 23:00 local time on Thursday 28 April, accomplishing the 9,250 mile journey in 15 days at an impressive average speed, including one scheduled stop, of 25 knots. During the delivery voyage, which included passing the notorious Cape of Good Hope, the vessel encountered severe weather conditions with combined sea and swell of up to eight metres. In the words of the seasoned delivery crew it was the âworst they had ever seen or experiencedâ.
