TTS Marine Gets Order

Norwegian ship and port equipment supplier TTS Marine ASA said on January 28 its port and material handling subsidiary TTS Handling Systems AS has landed a NOK60m order from China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co Ltd. The order covers the delivery of panel production line to increase the welding capacity at Shanhaiguan New Shipbuilding Industry Co Ltd. The equipment will be delivered during spring 2009.

TTS Wins Two Contracts

Sweden’s TTS Ships Equipment AB, Gothenburg, part of Norway’s TTS Marine ASA has landed two contracts for delivery of ships equipment for a total of four car carriers. This confirms TTS’ leading position in the supply of cargo access equipment to the car carrier newbuilding industry. The contract with South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) in Korea (Leif Hoegh A/S) and Croatia’s Uljanik Ship Yard, Pula (Ray Shipping) involves deliveries to two car carriers each. The deliveries include construction and supply of key components to the RoRo access systems including internal car decks and ramps, as well as stern ramps for the loading and discharge of vehicles. The delivery of the equipment is scheduled for the end of 2007.

Acquisition of Drilling Technology Company Sense EDM

TTS Marine ASA has signed an agreement to purchase all shares in the Norwegian drilling technology company Sense EDM. The company supplies drilling equipment and control systems for the on- and offshore markets.

Umoe Announces Strategy for Schat-Harding

Plans by the Norwegian group, Umoe Industri, to merge its lifeboat and davit subsidiary Umoe Schat-Harding with Bergen-based equipment manufacturer TTS Marine ASA have been cancelled. Umoe has called off the proposed all-share merger following a change in the shareholder profile of TTS. Jarle Roth, executive vice-president of the Umoe Group, says, "Umoe Industri has sold its shares in TTS Marine. This means that the merger between TTS and Umoe Schat-Harding announced on August 16, 2006 will not take place. Umoe's decision to sell the shares and consequently stop the merger process with TTS was based on the recent development in the shareholder structure in TTS Marine. Another industrial shareholder recently acquired close to 40 percent of the shares in TTS Marine."

TTS Acquires Umoe Schat-Harding

TTS Marine ASA has entered into a letter of intent with Umoe Industri regarding the takeover of Umoe Schat-Harding, which supplies lifeboats and other life-saving equipment to the shipping and offshore markets. The agreed purchase price is around $54.4m. Lifeboats and security equipment will by takeover of Umoe Schat-Harding be established as a new division in TTS, headed by the present managing director, Ove Røsseland. Umoe Industri`s basis for this transaction is to contribute to the development of TTS Group as an active and long-term shareholder. To facilitate active ownership, Umoe Industri AS will contemplate further acquisition of shares both before and after the execution of the agreement.

TTS Wins Translifter Contract

Finland’s TTS Liftec Oy, Tampere, part of the Port and Material Handling Division of Norway’s TTS Marine ASA, Bergen, has won a contract to supply two ports in northern Europe with Translifters for new Transfennica services from Finland. Transfennica, one of Finland’s largest shipowners, uses cassettes as part of the loading/unloading operation for cargoes throughout Europe. As from January 1, Transfennica is starting new services between various ports in Finland, the largest being Hanko, Hamina and Rauma, to Rostock (Germany) and Gdynia (Poland). In both ports, the cargo handling companies – Poland’s Idal Group in Gdynia and Germany’s MSB in Rostock, have ordered two Translifters each from TTS Liftec.

Finland’s TTS Liftec OY has won a number of contracts for port and terminal equipment recently, including: an order from Sweden’s Stora Enso for 120 x 80 ton RoRo cassettes, which will become part Stora Enso´s North European Transport Supply System (NETSS) for transport of SECU boxes between the Nordic countries and it’s terminals in Europe; and an order from Sweden’s Ståltransport i Avesta AB in Sweden for two translifters type LTH115 -12000. These translifters each have a loading capacity of 115 ton slabs on trestles and coils on cassettes.

TTS to Supply Specialized Crane to Tender

A 2,600-grt multi-purpose Lights Tender on order in Holland for operation in the Middle East is to feature a sophisticated buoy-handling crane designed and manufactured by Norway's TTS Marine ASA. The vessel has been ordered by Middle East Navigation Aids Service (MENAS) from the Damen Shipyards Group in Holland, with the 82.6 m long hull being sub-contracted to Damen's Galatz Shipyard in Romania, with final outfitting taking place at Schelde Naval Shipbuilding in Vlissingen, Holland. Hull No. 554001 at Damen Shipyards is designed for a wide variety of operations, including buoy-handling and laying, oil pollution recovery and hydrographic survey work and brings a new level of sophistication to these types of operation in the Arabian Gulf…
