Trelleborg Opens Houston HQ for Marine Solutions

Trelleborg said its marine and infrastructure operation in North America has recently moved into its new sales office in Houston, Texas, in a move aimed at meeting the growing demands across all North American markets and providing more localized and coordinated customer support for its complimentary product offerings, which include marine fender systems, docking and mooring equipment, transfer link systems, and navigation and piloting solutions.The new 8,600-square-foot office located on the west side of Houston places Trelleborg in the heart of the Houston metro area.

Boston Harbor Dredging Project to get Underway

The Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) Board today voted to approve to execute a Project Partnering Agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) and MassDOT to start the Boston Harbor Dredging Project. A signed agreement allows the ACOE to bid contracts for construction on a Confined Aquatic Disposal cell (CAD cell), which is needed for the maintenance dredging of the Inner Harbor Main Ship Channel. Maintenance dredging will restore the inner harbor to 40 feet and is the first phase of the larger dredging project. Without maintenance dredging, the harbor will continue to silt, leading to increased transit times, economic inefficiencies, and navigational safety concerns.

ABS Holds Meeting to Improve Offshore Equipment Safety

ABS recently convened the inaugural meeting of the ABS Offshore Equipment Advisory Committee, bring together a group of technical advisors on March 4, 2015, at the ABS Energy Corridor office to exchange information for rule development and enhancement of classification services for offshore equipment. One of the primary focuses of the committee is to gather information from offshore experts to guide changes and additions to publications such as the ABS Guide for the Classification of Drilling Systems, the classification society explained. "The ABS Offshore Equipment Committee plays an important role in bringing together key stakeholders to provide critical expertise to improve standards for equipment safety," said ABS Chairman and CEO Christopher J. Wiernicki.

Bibby Subsea Inks Contract with Bordelon Marine

Bibby Offshore’s Houston-based division, Bibby Subsea has signed a three year contract with Bordelon Marine to charter a new vessel. The Brandon Bordelon is an ultra-light intervention vessel (ULIV) and will commence a three year charter in August 2015 primarily operating in the Gulf of Mexico. The addition of the Brandon Bordelon to Bibby Offshore’s existing international fleet of specialised vessels enhances the capability throughout the Americas region. The purpose built, high specification Brandon Bordelon vessel provides a versatile and cost effective approach to a variety of operations, including IMR operations (inspection, maintenance and repair), light construction, survey and inspection work.

Greece to Assess Pipeline for Cypriot and Israeli Gas

Reuters - Greece launched an international tender on Monday for a study to assess the feasibility of a proposed pipeline to transmit gas from Israel and Cyprus in an effort to reduce dependence on Russian supplies. The Eastern Mediterranean Pipeline is designed to initially carry 8 billion cubic meters a year of Israeli and Cypriot gas. It would stretch from Israel's Leviathan natural gas field to Greece and onto European markets through the IGI-Poseidon pipeline, led by Italian utility Edison and state-controlled Greek utility DEPA. The European Commission has said Cypriot gas could play an important role in diversifying supplies but its development is complicated by the long-standing rift between Cyprus and Turkey. The pipeline would pass through disputed waters.

Situated in the Westchase District near the Energy Corridor, the Artificial Lift’s offices and warehouse total 28,000 square feet with 40 employees based at the location. While supporting global operations, its headquarters consist of engineering, manufacturing, operations and general support services.

Mass Gulf of Aden Pirate Attack Foiled

An attempt by pirates to hijack an Iranian oil tanker in international waters has been foiled by the timely action of Iranian warships present in the region, reports Iran's FARS News Agency, citing Admiral Siyavash Jarreh. The Gulf of Aden, which links the Indian Ocean with the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean Sea, is an important energy corridor, allowing Persian Gulf oil to be shipped to the West via the Suez Canal. FARS reports that in the last three years, around 3,000 cargo ships and oil tankers have been escorted by the Navy’s commandos and vessels…

Newpark Drilling Fluids held a grand opening ceremony for its Newpark Technology Center in Katy, Texas. Newpark Drilling Fluids Opens New World Headquarters

Newpark Drilling Fluids, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Newpark Resources, has opened its new world headquarters and laboratory facility in Katy, Texas. Newpark Drilling Fluids President Bruce Smith joined his executive staff in welcoming employees to their new home. The facility is located on 11 acres along Houston’s I-10 energy corridor just off Mason Road. Statoil to Become U.S. Shale Operator by 2013

Statoil ASA (STO, STL.OS), which built its oil and gas expertise in Norway's offshore waters, is stretching its land legs in the U.S., where it seeks to partake of the shale bounty. Like many international oil and gas companies, Norway's Statoil has poured billions into joint ventures with some of the North American independents that in the last decade figured out how to profitably unlock the oil and gas trapped in shale, bankrolling their drilling while hoping to learn some of their techniques. But peering over its partners' shoulders is not enough: Statoil plans to run its own U.S. shale operation in South Texas's Eagle Ford Shale by early 2013, said the company's executive vice president for North America, Bill Maloney.

Turner Designs Opens New Office In Texas

Fresno CA, Turner Designs Hydrocarbon Instruments, Inc. announced the opening of a new office in Texas to promote their line of oil in water analyzers. The new office will be located in Houston on the west side of town near the energy corridor and will be managed by Duane Germenis. Germenis joined Turner Designs Hydrocarbon Instruments in 2008 as the new Vice President of Sales and Marketing. He is responsible for all Upstream Oil and Gas oil in water monitoring applications worldwide. Germenis has over 20 years experience in this market including his time with Vortoil Separation Systems, US Filter, and most recently, Siemens Water Technology.
