imStudio launch new online welding guide to teaching facilites, help to find jobs in underwater welding specialization

imStudio launches new website to educate those interested in gaining skills and experience in the underwater welding industry. UnderwaterWeldingGuide.org will assist potential students in locating schools, understanding educational requirements and finding available positions post certification.

Underwater welding is as thoroughly rewarding as it is potentially deadly. And so, a certified education is necessary to enter into the prodigious field. Schools can be found in Texas, Florida, Louisiana, Washington, and California. Interested individuals should look at available underwater welding schools to determine what programs will support their professional goals.

At the moment, there are no age restrictions preventing any interested man or woman from pursuing a career as an underwater welder. Typically, age ranges from 18-38 years old and a healthy worker may be able to perform required duties well into their 40s. However, since hyperbaric welding is most often practiced in completely submerged conditions, an underwater welder must hold a welding certificate, with welding skills ranked at AWS D3.6, in combination with a commercial diving certificate. The diving certificate not only demonstrates that a welder is capable of diving successfully, but also reinforces necessary communication skills for an underwater work environment.

Underwater welders will most likely find themselves working at offshore or inshore facilities for oil companies. Additionally, underwater welders can provide maintenance to ships and cruisers in a marina, or install scientific equipment for an oceanographic institution. Job availability will vary depending on an area’s particular economic situation. However, if the work is available, an underwater welder can earn between $100,000-200,000 annually.
