Cruise Ship Passenger Missing in the Gulf of Mexico

An American cruise ship passenger has been reported missing in the Gulf of Mexico.The U.S. Coast Guard said Tuesday it is searching for a man who reportedly went overboard from Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Glory.The Coast Guard said its watchstanders at Sector New Orleans received a report around 12:40 p.m. n Monday from Carnival Cruise Line that they had an unaccounted-for passenger. The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a 53-year-old man from a cruise ship Sunday approximately 230 miles south of New Orleans, Louisiana.Coast Guard District Eight watchstanders received a call at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sunday from the crew of the cruise ship Voyager of the Seas requesting a medevac for a passenger aboard experiencing severe loss of blood.Watchstanders diverted a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew and an Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Casa aircrew to assist.

US Coast Guard Medevacs Five Passengers Off Cruise Ships Within 24 Hours

US Coast Guard helicopter aircrews medically evacuated four separate passengers off three different cruise ships, off the southern California coast, during a 24-hour period beginning Friday night.A 47-year-old woman, reportedly suffering from a progressive acute illness, was hoisted off the cruise ship Carnival Panorama, which was 100 miles south of San Diego. The cruise ship and an MH-60 Jayhawk aircrew from Coast Guard Sector San Diego rendezvoused 100 miles south of San Diego.

Coast Guard Responding to Vessel Adrift in Gulf of Mexico

The Coast Guard is responding to a vessel adrift in the Gulf of Mexico approximately 80 nautical miles south of Cape San Blas, Florida, Wednesday.Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile received a report at approximately 2 p.m. from crewmembers aboard a NOAA ship, the Gordon Gunter, that a 30-foot white sailboat named My Time appeared to be floating adrift.Members aboard the Gordon Gunter reported that the My Time appeared to have electronics operating, sails stowed, and did not respond to radio calls or the ship’s horn.

Coast Guard Searching for Missing Aircraft in GoM

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for an unresponsive aircraft that went missing in the Gulf of Mexico approximately 118 nautical miles north of the Yucatan Peninsula, Thursday. The Coast Guard said its watchstanders at the Eighth District command center in New Orleans received a report from the North American Aerospace Defense Command, Wednesday evening that one person aboard a privately owned Cirrus plane was unresponsive likely due to hypoxia. The pilot flew from Oklahoma City and was reportedly headed to Georgetown, Texas.

Barge Fire Extinguished in the Gulf of Mexico

Emergency responders have extinguished a fire aboard a barge adrift approximately 2 miles west of Cat Island, Miss. U.S. Coast Guard watchstanders received a report at approximately 1:20 p.m. Thursday that a barge being pushed by the tug vessel Kathryn T. Devall caught fire with a reported 2,500 tons of anhydrous ammonia and 800 gallons of diesel fuel. The Gulfport Fire Department has extinguished the fire after the tug crew was unable to put out the blaze and released the barge from the tug. No injuries have been reported.

U.S. Coast Guard, Industry Respond to GoM Ro/Ro Fire

The Coast Guard and good Samaritans are responding to the report of a vessel on fire approximately 150 miles south of Southwest Pass, Louisiana, Monday. Watchstanders at the Eighth Coast Guard District command center received a report at 3:28 a.m. from the National Command Center of an electrical fire in the engine room of the motor vessel Alliance St Louis. Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile launched an HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew who conducted an over flight of the vessel and confirmed that the fire had been extinguished by the crewmembers. No injuries or pollution has been reported. The Alliance St. Louis is currently on emergency power and drifting approximately 135 miles southwest of Southwest Pass with 20 crewmembers aboard and safely accounted for.

Woman Medevaced from Cruise Ship

The Coast Guard medevaced a 36-year-old woman from the cruise ship Norwegian Dawn 110 miles south of Southwest Pass, Louisiana, Thursday. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report at 3:20 p.m. that a cruise ship crewmember, Shirlee Magsino, had been suffering from abdominal pain. Watchstanders launched a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew and a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew at 4:41 p.m. The MH-65 aircrew arrived on scene at 6:23 p.m. and transferred Magsino to Emergency Services at the New Orleans International Airport at 7:55 p.m. Magsino was reported in stable condition and transferred to Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans.

Search on for Cruise Ship Passenger

Coast Guard aircrews continued searching through the day and into the evening Saturday, after beginning a search Friday for a woman who fell from a cruise ship - about 200 miles southeast of Galveston-, Texas. Samantha Broberg, 33, was reported missing to the ships personnel Friday around noon, which caused the Carnival Liberty to search the ship for her. She was not found aboard the ship, but they reported that video showed her falling overboard from the 10th deck at around 2 a.m. After it was confirmed that she had fallen overboard, the crew contacted the Coast Guard at about 5 p.m.

Coast Guard Rescues 9 in Gulf of Mexico

The Coast Guard rescued nine people over the course of two separate incidents in the Gulf of Mexico, Saturday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile were notified that a 36-foot recreational fishing vessel with five people aboard was taking on water 47 miles south of Dauphin Island at 12:08 p.m. The watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island 45-foot Response Boat –Medium and crew and an Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed wing aircraft crew to assist. Towing Vessels Collide on Lower Mississippi

One of two towing vessels involved in a collision on the Lower Mississippi River has sunk near Memphis, Monday afternoon. The U.S. Coast Guard and local agencies are responding   Coast Guard watchstanders received a notification of a collision between the towing vessels Margaret Ann and the William Strait at mile marker 727 on the Lower Mississippi River. The William Straight sank in 20 feet of water.   A Coast Guard 25-foot small boat crew from the Sector Lower Mississippi River along with an HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircraft from Aviation Training Center Mobile, Alabama and local pollution response agencies are on scene responding.   A safety zone has been established from mile markers 726 to 728.   The cause of the incident is under imvestigation.

Search On For Missing Sailboat in Gulf of Mexico

The Coast Guard is searching for an overdue boater near Main Pass in the Gulf of Mexico, Monday. Missing is Keith Carver, 61, of Tucson, Az. Carver's girlfriend notified watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Corpus Christi that his 38-foot sailboat, the Carpe Noctem, was overdue on Nov. 4. Carver departed Biloxi, Miss., on Nov. 3 with the intended destination of Corpus Christi, Texas. Searching are: A Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala. HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircraft crew. A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater, Fla., HC-130 Hercules fixed-wing aircraft crew.

USCG Searching for Missing Boaters in Mobile Bay Area

The Coast Guard continues to search for at least five people in the Mobile Bay area Sunday. Rescuers searched throughout the night for the missing boaters and have covered a total of 1,773 square miles as of 11:00 a.m., Sunday. More than 40 people have been rescued by a combined effort of multiple agencies and good Samaritans. One boater was rescued by a Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island rescue crew at approximately 9 p.m. Saturday. A strong line of thunderstorms pushed eastward across the Mobile Bay area Saturday at approximately 3:30 p.m., resulting in winds in excess of 70 miles per hour. Mariners in the area were caught off guard, including a regatta sailing event in the Dauphin Island area.

Chief Engineer Medevaced from Cargo Ship off Galveston

A U.S. Coast Guard rescue helicopter crew medevaced the chief engineer off a cargo ship, Monday, after he began experiencing stroke-like symptoms, 85 miles offshore of Galveston, Texas. Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston Command Center received a notification relayed from the 892-foot cargo vessel Altair, at approximately 5:30 a.m., stating that the chief engineer, a 61-year-old man, suffering from stoke-like symptoms. Watchstanders dispatched an Air Station Houston crew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter along with an aircrew from Aviation Training Center Mobile aboard an HC-144 Ocean Sentry to provide top cover and communications.

New Captain for USCG Air Station Cape Cod

Capt. Timothy Tobiasz assumed the duties and responsibilities as commanding officer of Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts, from Capt. Stephen H. Torpey during a change of command ceremony at the air station in Bourne, Massachusetts, Saturday. Rear Adm. Linda L. Fagan, commander of the 1st Coast Guard District, presided over the ceremony. The change-of-command ceremony is a time-honored tradition which formally restates the continuity of authority vested in the commanding officer to the officers and crew in attendance. This unique military ritual represents a total transfer of responsibility, authority, and accountability from one leader to the next. Tobiasz reports to Air Station Cape Cod after serving as the senior U.S. Coast Guard advisor to the combatant commander of U.S.

Two Injured in Pipeline Blaze off Louisiana

A natural gas pipeline has caught fire approximately 25 miles south of Marsh Island, La., Wednesday, injuring two vessel crew members working on the pipeline, according to the U.S. Coast Guard. Coast Guard watchstanders in New Orleans were notified at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday that a natural gas pipeline had ruptured and was ablaze. Sector New Orleans directed the launch of a HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircraft crew from Aviation Training Center Mobile to monitor the situation. The dive operation vessel Ms. Kerci was working on the pipeline at the time of the rupture. Two crew members aboard the vessel were injured and are being escorted to Houma, La. The pipeline is reported to be extinguished, the Coast Guard said. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

The Coast Guard is responding to a report of a downed military aircraft approximately 57 miles south of Panama City, Florida, Thursday. Watchstanders at the 8th Coast Guard District received a call from the Air Force at approximately 9:30 a.m., reporting a downed military aircraft with one person aboard. Responding assets are: Coast Guard Cutter Bonito Coast Guard Station Panama City 45-foot Response Boat - Medium crew Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircraft crew Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew The incident is under investigation.

Woman Medevaced from Cruise Ship off SouthWest Pass

The Coast Guard medevaced a 50-year-old woman from a cruise ship 225 miles southeast of Southwest Pass, Saturday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard District 8 received a call at approximately 9 a.m., requesting a medevac for a woman who was reportedly suffering from internal bleeding. Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and an Aviation Training Center Mobile, Ala., HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed-wing aircraft crew. The helicopter crew arrived on scene at approximately 2:50 p.m. and hoisted the woman and a nurse and transported them to West Jefferson Medical Center in stable condition.
