Portugal’s Navalrocha Shipyard announced it has completed a multimillion-dollar repair project for Luxembourg-based company Jan De Nul Group as it targets growth across the Benelux dredging sector.The cluster-contract involving repair work to two split hopper barges and one trailing suction hopper dredger - Tiger, De Bougainville, and Le Guerrier - was finalized at the end of November 2022. Key elements of the project involved complex heavy-lift operations, to replace 40-tonne hydraulic cylinders, plus ballast water treatment system (BWTS) installations.

Salvage, emergency response and marine services company Resolve Marine announced that its vessel the Resolve Pioneer has completed its ABS special survey and U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) certificate of inspection following a drydock at Vigor Industrial in Portland, Ore. The drydock involved various technical upgrades, hull steel renewal, painting, overhaul and cleaning of the vessel.The 207-foot rescue boat is based in Western Alaska and provides critical emergency response and oil spill readiness 24/7. The Resolve Pioneer also helps to ensure that commercial vessels transiting U.S.

Ship managers Synergy Group converted a 1992-built, 126,000 cubic meters capacity Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) carrier into a Floating Storage Unit (FSU). The conversion was performed at Sembcorp Marine’s Admiralty Yard in Singapore.Synergy will manage, maintain and operate the FSU, which has a projected lifespan of 15 years. U.S.-flag lakers idled for the winter season will undergo more than $97 million in maintenance and modernization work at multiple Great Lakes shipyards before returning to service in March. Portugal's Navalrocha shipyard reports a strong influx of BWTS (Ballast Water Treatment System) retrofit projects for 2020.The shipyard completed its first ever BWTS installation with technical engineering partner Step Consolidated on the Paxoi bunker tanker, managed MM Marine Inc.Navalrocha Commercial Director Sergio Rodrigues said the contract sparked a series of other deals with five more BWTS retrofit projects scheduled for 2020.“The Paxoi installation process was carried out in the last quarter of 2019 during a 16-day drydocking,” he said.

The Interlake Steamship Company said its articulated tug-barge unit (ATB) Dorothy Ann-Pathfinder has departed winter layup on Saturday, February 24, to begin early-season shuttles of iron ore for ArcelorMittal, an integrated steel and mining company with blast furnaces at the head of the Cuyahoga River. A workhorse of Interlake’s nine-vessel fleet, the 700-foot Dorothy Ann-Pathfinder is one of Interlake’s two River-Class vessels, a designation given to ships that can traverse the narrowest harbors of the Great Lakes.

Vigor built on its ongoing investments in critical infrastructure in the Puget Sound in 2017 with the $20 million investment in another drydock. At 640 ft. long with a clear width of 116 ft., the new dock will be the third, and largest, at Vigor’s Harbor Island shipyard. The drydock is expected to be operational in early first quarter 2018 and is part of Vigor’s ongoing commitment to make Harbor Island a primary destination for ship repair and conversion on the West Coast for both commercial and government customers.

Caribbean shipyard Grand Bahama Shipyard (GBS) said it has completed work on 30 commercial vessels within first half of 2017, predominantly comprised of companies returning to the yard with repeat business including tankers, bulk carriers, containerships, tugs, dive support vessels and drilling support vessels. Harris Pye Engineering Group completed repair works during the two-stage multi-million dollar Diamond Offshore demobilization project for its semi-sub rig Ocean Endeavor from the Black Sea, which completed its contract in January 2016. The initial phase of the repair work, which started in December 2015, while the rig was offshore Constanta, Romania involved cleaning of mud, brine, base oil and skimmer tanks. The 127,500dwt Solitaire has completed some of the most challenging projects in which heavy pipe has been laid in very deep waters. Originally built in Japan as a mini-Capesize bulk carrier, the Lloyd’s Register-classed vessel was converted to lay pipe in 1998. She has full dynamic positioning and can carry a pipe payload of 22,000 metric tons. Recently, however, the vessel’s operator Allseas decided to repair parts of the 550m2 tank top in hold number 6 which had corroded. After a detailed assessment was carried out, Allseas opted for SPS technology instead of steel renewal.

Dubai's QE 2 Holdings Ltd. chairman, His Excellency Khamis Juma Buamim, sets out his company's vision of a new life for the veteran cruise liner –  as a hotel ship – in his speech to dignitories. Outlining the work that has been completed, the chairman provided details of the transfer of ownership of the vessel to a new entity called QE2 Shipping LLC, based out of & owned by Dubai & that all necessary registry documentation with the flag state on the ownership of the vessel had been completed.

7 vessels sailed from China's CIC Boluomiao Shipyard in May 2013, on time despite prolonged heavy rain, congested quays. Among the seven vessels were: M/V “AN PING 1” ,“HUB GRANDIOSE”, “GAS CORAL”, “XIN JIN ZHOU”, and  “WISH WAY”. The range of projects for M/V “HUB GRANDIOSE” was quite large, with steel renewal for double bottom tanks, tank tops and fore peak tanks, but following successful ballast water tests of the repars the ship sailed on time. The projects for M/V “GAS CORAL” included mechanical and electrical projects and docking. The yard started repairs on schedule with repairs to the main engine, generator and other machinery. Again the work was completed on time.

The 107,123 dwt 'Eagle Turin', owned by AET is the 100th tankship refit project to be handled at Lisnave. This milestone in today’s highly competitive ship refit market, has been achieved over a period of 15 years, it being the second time that this particular tanker has visited Lisnave for general refits. The first tanker refit project from AET was received by Lisnave during 1998 – the 102,352 dwt Eagle Auriga arriving in March of that year. At that time the attending superintendent from AET was Mr. Aw Chin Meng who, on average, has been once a year since 1998.

Drydocks World, announced the completion of maintenance work on Abu Dhabi-UAE based National Drilling Company’s (NDC) Jack-Up Cantilever type Self Elevating Drilling Platform, Delma, which was built in Brazil in 1983. Drydocks World has repaired over a 100 rigs since operations began and has implemented more projects for the offshore drilling sector in recent years as part of a deliberate strategy to serve this rapidly growing sector. The shipyard had worked on 6 rigs simultaneously this year. Delma is the first of two orders received from NDC this year.

The MV Handan Steel is an ore carrier belonging to an English company, size: LOA 330m Breadth 60m. The main engine repair involved   the chemical cleaning of the heat exchanger, M/E air cooler x 2sets, main L/O cooler x 1set, and main & auxiliary atmosphere condenser repair. The deck work scope mainly included No.5 cargo hold bulkhead partial steel renewal, E/R main engine ventilation duct to be cropped and renewed, installation of the limit for aft D/E. The coating work included  SA2 sandblasting for the bulkhead of five cargo holds from 16m high downwards with painting of two F/C, totally 14,630 m2, and the hull (16000m2) to be SA2 sandblasted with painting of two T/C, one F/C. The contracting time was 12 days.

Gibdock’s growing reputation as one of the leading cruise ship repair and refurbishment centres in the Mediterranean has been enhanced by the docking of the 42,255 gt, 1992-built Pullmantur Zenith. Gibraltar-based Gibdock has recently completed a drydocking contract for UK-based Saga Holidays. Last month, the niche cruise operator docked the 9,570gt, 139m long Spirit of Adventure for a 10 day program of works, including steel repairs to the bulbous bow and a comprehensive external clean and repaint.
