Vacon opens subsidiary in Australia

March 14, 2007

The Finland-based AC drives manufacturer Vacon (VAZ.BE) strengthens its global presence by opening a subsidiary in Australia. The grand opening will take place on March 15 in Melbourne, and the inaugural speech will be given by Mr Glen Lindholm, Finland's Ambassador to Australia. With the head office in Melbourne, and sales offices in Perth and Brisbane, Vacon Pacific will concentrate on serving the growing markets of Australia and the Pacific region.

"By opening a subsidiary in Australia to cover the Pacific region, Vacon now has offices in 18 countries outside Finland. This is yet another important step supporting Vacon's strategy of a global presence and being closer to our customers. Australia, and the Pacific region in general, is a large and growing market, and Vacon intends on becoming a major presence in the market. Our offices are located in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. Vacon Pacific will also position itself to support customers in the entire Asia-Pacific region," says Mr Heikki Hiltunen, Executive Vice President, Vacon.

"Now that we have Vacon's own offices in Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane, we expect to extend the growth of the brand, product and service in the market. Vacon's partner CMG has been successful in establishing the brand over the past 8 years. Looking forward, we expect significant growth through our existing partners and through careful selection of future partners across the primary centres in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific region," says Mr Hiltunen.

The use of AC drives saves energy, and thus, decreases the greenhouse effect and promotes the fight against the climate change. The relatively high per capita energy consumption in Australia and the rapid economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region offer significant market potential for Vacon's energy-saving solutions. "The hard-working and passionate team of Vacon Pacific is eager to deliver every aspect of customer needs from any industry, with the main focus on the water and waste water, mining and metals, energy, marine, offshore and oil markets as well as after market service," says Mr Mike Smits, Managing Director, Vacon Pacific.
