The London headquartered, Dynamic Positioning Center in conjunction with Singapore Maritime Academy announced the validation of the newly opened dynamic positioning (DP) training school in Singapore by the Nautical Institute (NI), the professional association for qualified mariners. The Singapore Dynamic Positioning Center located adjacent to Republic of Singapore Yacht Club, opened it’s doors to students wishing to train as DP Operators in March following the signing of a co-operation agreement with the internationally recognized Singapore Maritime Academy which is part of the Singapore Polytechnic. Following a visit by the Nautical Institute earlier this month to verify the DP training center, Ian Giddings, Education and Training Manager presented Colin Soanes, Senior DP Instructor of The Dynamic Positioning Center with a Nautical Institute certificate recognizing Singapore’s successful achievement of the required training standards. As well as 4-day induction and advanced courses, the Dynamic Positioning Center offers familiarization and appreciation courses, enabling clients to keep abreast of new standards and techniques, and to equip those who are not familiar with the DP industry with the appropriate knowledge and skills. The Dynamic Positioning Center boasts what is believed to be the most experienced team of dynamic positioning instructors in the world. All of the instructors in the team have been drawn from the international offshore marine industry with in excess of 10 years operational DP experience on all types of vessels and rigs. The Dynamic Positioning Center was the first DP training school in the world to install the latest Alstom ‘A Series’ dynamic positioning system at their NI accredited state-of-the-art-training facility in London earlier this year, confirming their position as ‘Best in Class’ for DP training and expertise.
