NYK Launches Car Transport Service to Hai Phong

NYK has started a new car transport service “Ruffles Ao Dai RORO Express (REX)” linking Hai Phong in Northern Vietnam with Ho Chi Minh and Laem Chabang (near Bangkok). On October 8, the NYK-operated car carrier Modern Link arrived in Hai Phong for the first call. And the ceremony to commemorate was held attended by the top managements of the Port of Hai Phong, Tan Vu Terminal, among others. The previous service for Northern Vietnam called at the port of Cai Lan is once a month. Now the new service calls the port of Hai Phong, which is close to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, and increases the number of calls to twice a month. NYK will attempt to accommodate demand for the transportation of finished cars to Vietnam…

Vinalines Plans Ports Divestment

The Vietnam National Shipping Lines (Vinalines) and the Ministry of Transport (MOT) hope the plan to reduce the state’s ownership ratio in the big shipping firm to 36 percent will help restructure the business. It   has finalized an overall plan for the development of its seaport network, for submission to the Ministry of Transport and then the Prime Minister for a decision. The watchdog agency MHA has realized that investors would not be interested in Vinalines’ shares if the State intended to hold a big proportion of shares after equitization. The plan is to equitize Vinalines, described as “very daring” under which the State will hold 36 percent of chartered capital only after selling seaports and equitizing subsidiaries.

Vinashin Launches 6,500 Ton Container Ship

Vinashin Plans Investment

According to reports, Vinashin has obtained the go-ahead from central Vietnam’s Khanh Hoa province to invest in series of industrial parks and urban projects in Cam Ranh Bay. The company will invest in three industrial parks (IPs), including a Cam Ranh IP-township, the South Cam Ranh IP, and a site in northern Hon Qui. The shipbuilding group will also build a 200ha Cam Phu – Cam Linh Urban Area and an ecotourism site in Hon Qui. Vinashin will work out detailed investment plans for each project to submit to the local government. Between now and 2010, the unlisted-shipbuilder plans to build seven shipyards, six shipbuilding industrial parks and seven shipbuilding industrial complexes throughout Vietnam.
