Wallenius Wilhelmsen Signs Korean Customer and Acquires Two RoRo Ships

Wallenius Wilhelmsen, the world’s largest RoRo vessel operator, has signed a multi-year shipping contract with South Korea’s construction machinery company and taken delivery of two vessels.Through its 80% owned subsidiary EUKOR, Wallenius Wilhelmsen welcomed the 2009-built, 6,600 CEU Morning Camilla vessel following the declaration of a purchase option under the long-term charter-in agreement.The purchase price is $30 million, well below the assessed charter-free valuation of around $70 million…

Norsepower Secures Its First Newbuild Order

Wind propulsion systems provider Norsepower said it has secured a contract to install five tilting rotor sails on board a large bulk carrier for an anonymous shipowner, marking the Finnish company's first installation aboard a newbuild vessel. DFDS to Acquire Turkey's Largest RoRo Operator

Danish shipping and logistics group DFDS has acquired Turkey’s largest operator of Ro-Ro freight ships and will be a major player in the strong and continuously growing trade between the EU and Turkey. U.N. Ro-Ro operates five routes connecting Italy and France with Turkey, 12 ships and port terminals in Trieste and in Pendik, Istanbul. U.N. Ro-Ro employs 500 people. The deal is subject to approval by the authorities. ​Today, Danish shipping group DFDS signed an agreement to acquire 98.8 % of the shares in the shipping company U.N. APM Terminals Pipavav Receives Maiden RoRo Vessel

APM Terminals Pipavav (Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd), one of western India’s gateway ports,  announced having hosted the maiden call by leading RORO operator Höegh Autoliners vessel – m.v. HOEGH ANTWERP at Pipavav Port. HOEGH ANTWERP berthed at Pipavav Port in late January, 2016, to load Ford’s small and midsized cars, being exported from its Sanand plant in Gujarat. OW Bunker Launches New Barge in Gothenburg

OW Bunker, supplier and traders of marine fuel, announced that it has launched a new barge in Gothenburg, adding to its physical supply base in Sweden. Vadero Highlander is a double-hulled 1,862-dwt barge, first launched in 2003. It has a pumping capacity of 350 m3/hr, and will carry all grades of quality fuel oil products for customers. The launch of Vadero Highlander will also see OW Bunker strengthen its strategic relationship with Northern Europe's leading passenger and freight RoRo operator DFDS. OW Bunker provides DFDS with a full service solution that is focused on managing the total cost of ownership of the bunkering process, ensuring that fuel procurement is a central part of DFDS’s overall operational strategy to increase efficiencies within the supply chain.

RoRo Operator Joins ShipServ

Grimaldi Group Naples, has become ShipServ's 53rd member. They are also its first Italian shipping company client. Grimaldi Group Naples, which includes Grimaldi Compagnia di Navigazione, Atlantica di Navigazione, INARME, Malta Motorways of the Sea and Atlantic Container Line, has 47 vessels with another 12 on order. The Group is known for its purchasing organization and procedures, which has enabled it to achieve substantial efficiencies over the years. Grimaldi is a long time user of SpecTec AMOS Maintenance & Purchase system and it is the first SpecTec client to become a member of ShipServ TradeNet since SpecTec and ShipServ announced their new partnership in March.
