The US Coast Guard will have MAN’s 28/33D STC engines installed as the main propulsion for its new Offshore Patrol Cutter (OPC) programme. The programme is the replacement platform for the 13 ‘Famous’ class and 14 ‘Reliance’ class cutter vessels, making the order the largest vessel procurement order in the Coast Guard’s history. Trelleborg’s engineered products operation has supplied a selection of bearing solutions for the world's first floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project – Shell’s Prelude FLNG. Trelleborg’s engineered products operation is now manufacturing a pre-bend rubber dredging hose in China – the only one of its kind available in the country, according to the manufacturer. Currently exclusive to Trelleborg’s Chinese manufacturing operation, all of Trelleborg’s pre-bend rubber dredging hoses manufactured in China will be reinforced with armored rings, thereby strengthening the hose and extending its use-life. Shell has selected BMT Asia Sdn Bhd (BMT) to provide three-year maintenance services for a production storage facility offshore Malaysia. Sister company, BMT Scientific Marine Services previously installed Marine Instrumentation Systems (MIS) and Marine Advisory Systems (MAS) on the platform. This contract allows the organization to provide servicing and maintenance on MIS/MAS instrumentation exposed to the offshore marine environment, in order to ensure that components remain functional and provide accurate data.

3M introduces its new 3M™ Reinforced Polyurethane Foam, a lightweight and rot-resistant alternative to plywood for use in structural and semi-structural applications. These polyurethane foam boards with fiberglass reinforcement provide high strength in applications including marine, transportation and general construction, with a weight savings ranging from 30 to 60 percent versus plywood. “Plywood is currently used in many applications where water causes it to degrade over time,” said Nick Harris, global business leader for 3M Engineered Products and Solutions.
