Wärtsilä Propellers to Drive Greek Tankers

TMS Tankers Ltd, one of the largest Greece based shipping fleet operators, has selected Wärtsilä fixed pitch propellers (FPPs) for its new vessels under construction in China. The order was placed with Wärtsilä's joint venture company in China, Wärtsilä CME Zhenjiang Propeller Co Ltd (WCME), in December 2015. Other leading Greek shipping companies have also recently opted for Wärtsilä FPPs. The contract covers the propellers for four Aframax tankers under construction at the Hantong Ship Heavy Industry yard. The Wärtsilä FPPs will be fitted with the company's EnergoProFin solution, a propeller cap with fins that rotates together with the propeller to produce fuel savings of up to 5 percent.

Wärtsilä's JV with CSSC to Expands Engines Range

Wärtsilä and China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC) have signed an agreement to establish a joint venture for manufacturing medium and large bore medium speed diesel and dual-fuel engines. The CSSC Wärtsilä Engine (Shanghai) Co. Ltd factory will be located at Lingang, Shanghai and is expected to have its first engine ready for delivery by the end of 2015. The company will in particular target the growing offshore and LNG markets, as well as the market for very large container vessels. The Wärtsilä share of the joint venture is 49 per cent and the size of Wärtsilä's equity investment is approximately EUR 12 million. New Wartsila Manufacturing Facility Opens in China

Wärtsilä CME Zhenjiang Propeller Co Ltd, the joint venture between Wärtsilä Corporation and Zhenjiang CME Ltd, inaugurated its new manufacturing facilities for controllable pitch (CP) propellers in Zhenjiang, China. Wärtsilä CME has invested EUR 12 million (over $17 million) in these facilities, as the company had announced last October. Wärtsilä CME Zhenjiang Propeller is the first company in China to manufacture Wärtsilä-designed, hydraulically-operated CP propellers. The first deliveries from the new factory are planned to take place later this year.

Wärtsilä to Manufacture Propellers at Zhenjiang CME, China

Wärtsilä has signed an agreement with Zhenjiang CME Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), to begin the manufacture of controllable pitch propellers (CP propellers) at the two companies' joint venture unit, Wärtsilä CME Zhenjiang Propeller Co Ltd, located in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province. The inauguration of the new factory and the first deliveries are planned for the second quarter 2011. Wärtsilä CME Zhenjiang Propeller Co Ltd will invest $16.4m in a state-of-the-art facility for manufacturing CP propellers. The investment includes the construction of a new 8,000 m2 factory at the same location as the existing fixed pitch propellers (FP Propellers) factory.

Wärtsilä Wins Bulk Orders for 72 FPPs

The propeller manufacturer and joint-venture company Wärtsilä CME Zhenjiang Propeller Co Ltd signed contracts in November to deliver a total of 72 fixed pitch propellers (FPP) at a value of approximately EUR 30 million. The company will deliver the propellers to six of China's leading shipbuilders for vessels due to be delivered between 2009 and 2011. The nickel-aluminium bronze propellers, totalling over 2700 tonnes with diameters ranging from 6.1 - 8.2m, will be for installation to different types of vessels including oil tankers, containerships and bulk carriers.

Wärtsilä to Start Propeller Manufacture in China

Wärtsilä will begin manufacturing propellers in China. Wärtsilä's wholly owned company Wärtsilä Propulsion and Zhenjiang CME Co. Ltd (CME), wholly owned by the China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), have today signed a contract to establish a joint venture company. The company will be 55%-owned by Wärtsilä and 45%-owned by CME and its name will be Wärtsilä-CME Zhenjiang Propeller Co. Ltd. "China's shipbuilding industry is growing rapidly and 15% of new ships are currently built in the country. China also is developing into a significant production country for ship equipment. The propeller manufacturing in China is Wärtsilä's first step in developing its production in this growing market", says Wärtsilä's President and CEO Ole Johansson.

Wärtsilä' Starts Prop Production in China

The joint venture company set up by Wärtsilä and CSSC (China State Shipbuilding Corporation) in China to design, manufacture and deliver Fixed Pitch Propeller (FPP) packages has officially started operating at the beginning of June 2004. The new company, called Wärtsilä-CME Zhenjiang Propeller Co. Ltd, is 55%-owned by Wärtsilä and 45%-owned by Zhenjiang CME Co. Ltd (CME), the latter being a wholly owned subsidiary of the CSSC. The move comes at the right time for Wärtsilä as the focus of the world's shipbuilding industry shifts heavily to Asia…

Wärtsilä Opens Propeller Factory in China

Wärtsilä's joint venture company in China, Wartsila CME Zhenjiang Propeller Co Ltd., inaugurated its new propeller factory at Zhenjiang in Jiangsu province. The new factory is expected to double Wärtsilä's capacity to manufacture this type of propellers. During the past ten years the output has increased by 500 percent. In 2007 up to May, there are 425 vessels contracted in China, which is 45 percent of the global vessel order intake, ranking China number one in the world. The new factory has more than doubled the annual production output to 6,500 tons of propellers. The new maximum size of propeller that can be produced at the new factory is suitable for the world's largest container ships that are currently envisaged with propellers individually weighing up to as much as 140 tons.

Wärtsilä Receives Order for 50 Propellers in China

At the beginning of September the joint-venture company Wärtsilä CME Zhenjiang Propeller Co. Ltd. in China received an order for 50 fixed pitch propellers (FPP) to be delivered to two shipyards, New Century Shipyard and New Times Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., in Jiangsu Province, China. The order is worth $21.5m .The propellers will be manufactured at the Wärtsilä CME propeller factory in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province, China. With weights ranging from 28 - 73 tons, the propellers are designated for the propulsion of a large series of vessels including 46 tankers and 4 container vessels, all being built at New Century Shipyard and New Times Shipbuilding for various customers. The vessels will be delivered between 2007 and 2009.
