Swiber Wins Huge SE Asia 2013 Contracts

Singapore's Swiber Holdings has been awarded subsea contracts in SE Asia worth approximately US$153-million. The contracts, with oil industry majors, mark the first wins in 2013, largely entail transportation and installation of pipelines and offshore structures in Southeast Asia. Work for these contracts are expected to commence immediately with expected completion by 2013. Wilhelmsen Ships Services Supports Gorgon Project

Wilhelmsen Ships Service is providing  a range of support services to the Gorgon project, Australia’s largest ever oil and gas project. Services include the importation of dredgers and project cargo shipments. The company is also providing agency and logistics support  to the offshore accommodation vessel MS Finnmarken which houses a 350-strong workforce for the project. Operated by Hurtigruten, the Finnmarken is a Norwegian owned cruise vessel, whose on board residents are mainly dredging crew. The vessel is moored near to Barrow Island which is the site of the Gorgon Project’s gas plant construction. The key advantage of accommodating the workers offshore is that it reduces the environmental impact of the project by removing the need to accommodate these workers on Barrow Island itself…

WAPET Makes Gas Discovery

Western Australian Mines Minister Norman Moore announced last week that West Australian Petroleum Pty Ltd (WAPET) had made a significant gas discovery in its deepwater exploration area off the state's northwest coast. Moore said the Geryon 1 well was drilled in exploration area WA 267-P, operated by WAPET. "Preliminary estimates suggest that the field contains a world-class gas resource," he said. A WAPET spokesman said the well was the second in a seven well drilling program in the permit area. The first well was Euryale and drilling of the third well was underway. Other stakeholders in WA-267-P are local units of Texaco Inc and Mobil Corp. that each have 25 percent. Units of BP Amoco and Royal Dutch/Shell each have 12.5 percent.
