Seacat Freedom, the latest addition to Seacat Services’ 12-strong fleet, has been dispatched to DONG Energy’s Race Bank offshore wind project following the boat’s official naming ceremony at Seawork 2016. The deployment comes as part of the two year, 4-workboat crew transfer deal secured by Seacat Services in April to support DONG Energy’s operation off the UK’s East coast. Construction at Race Bank will require the highest possible levels of reliability and work boat availability in order to fully commission all 91 turbines by 2018.

Imtech has been awarded a design & build contract for the high-tech climate technology aboard the new Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers being built for the British Royal Navy. The order represents a value of more than about $187m. The ships, which are 918.6 ft long, are the largest naval ships ever to be built in the UK. The two aircraft carriers are about 65,000 tons each, a size between the American Nimitz class and the French Charles de Gaulle class. The high-tech design and build order is a direct order from Babcock Marine, a member of the Aircraft Carrier Alliance.

Wesmar's New DC Thruster Design

Wesmar's two-bolt design was created for an easy drop-in installation. The new stainless steel bow and stern thrusters can also fit on competitive two-bolt metric systems. Also simplifying the installation process, Wesmar has developed a new stern tunnel for a more efficient upgrade. In addition to its retrofitable design, Wesmar is escalating the horse power of their bow and stern thrusters with a dramatic new design that increases power from eight to 13 horse power. Now, thanks to the new high tech design, boat owners and captains alike can achieve more thrust through the same sized tunnel.
