Ukraine Hits Russian Tanker with Sea Drone near Crimea Bridge

Cruise Passenger Falls Overboard in Singapore Strait

Emergency responders are searching for a cruise ship passenger who reportedly fell overboard in the Singapore Strait.At about 7:50 a.m. on Monday, the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Singapore was notified that a passenger onboard a Cyprus-flagged passenger vessel, Spectrum of the Seas, had fallen overboard while enroute into Singapore.MRCC Singapore, operated by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), is coordinating the search and immediately issued navigational safety broadcast to vessels in the Singapore Strait and vessels in port to keep a lookout for the missing person and report any sightings to MRCC Singapore.The cruise ship is currently berthed in Singapore and is supporting investigations.The 169…

Survivors of Libya Shipwreck Brought Ashore in Italy

Seventeen migrants rescued after the latest deadly shipwreck in the Mediterranean were brought ashore by the Italian authorities on Monday as Italy faced criticism for its response to the crisis.Those rescued were taken to the Sicilian town of Pozzallo, Italian newswire ANSA reported, and said they were all originally from Bangladesh.Thirty people were feared drowned after the boat they were traveling in from Libya capsized in bad weather on Sunday, Italy's coastguard said.The tragedy follows a Feb. 26 shipwreck near the southern region of Calabria, in which at least 79 people died.

MOL LNG Carrier Rescues Castaway

Japanese shipowner Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) said that its liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier 'Energy Advance' rescued a castaway in the Pacific Ocean about 970km off Luzon Island in the Philippines.The vessel was underway from the port of Ogishima, Japan to Dampier, Australia on July 1 when it received a rescue request.The rescue assistance request was issued by the Guam Rescue Coordination Centre, it said.The LNG carrier rushed to the scene and at around 11:10 the same day, one castaway was safely rescued from the yacht Shuten Dohji Ⅱ.Energy Advance, a Japan registry ship, has 119,233 ton gross tonnage and has 31 crew including Japanese and Indonesian.

Cruise Ship Reaches Port after Casualty, Rescues

A luxury cruise ship that had set sail with almost 1,400 passengers and crew aboard arrived at a port in Norway on Sunday after narrowly escaping disaster when its engines failed during a storm.The Viking Sky sent out a mayday signal on Saturday as it drifted in rough waters in the Norwegian Sea to within 100 metres of land.Rescue services airlifted 479 people, hoisting them one-by- one on to helicopters, before the weather subsided on Sunday and a tow could begin.
