The Society of Maritime Industries, the umbrella organization of equipment and services in all areas of the maritime industry in United Kingdom and Tribon Solutions today announced a co-operation agreement. The co-operation will provide the members of the Society of Maritime Solutions with a framework of activities to further strengthen their communication with and presence at shipyards worldwide by participating in Tribon.com.

Tribon.com is an Internet based service for the shipbuilding industry linking together shipyards, maritime equipment suppliers and ship owners in a comprehensive global network. Tribon.com centers around a database of shipbuilding components and equipment. The database contains 3D models; design information, pictures, technical specifications and commercial information enabling design integration supplemented by full e-commerce functionality.

The Society of Maritime Industries consists of five main businesses; British Marine Equipment Association (BMEA), British Naval Equipment Association (BNEA), British Oil Spill Control Association (BOSCA), Ports and Terminals Group (PTG) and Offshore Oil Group (ABOI). Today the society has around 200 members from small companies to large international corporations.

Chief Executive of the Society of Maritime Industries, John Murray said: “As a senior trade association body of the Maritime industry we are constantly looking for ways to improve the productivity and profitability for our members. Tribon approached us with this excellent proposal, something which would be of great benefit to our members by giving them increased and faster access to world markets 24hours a day, 365 days a year.”

Bruce Douglas VP Sales at Tribon Solutions said: “With the United Kingdom’s reputation as a leading maritime nation we are of course delighted to have the Society of Maritime Industries joining Tribon.com. Tribon.com is constantly developed in order to help optimizing ship construction through fast designer-supplier interaction. The co-operation offers the members of the Society a new market channel to promote their products to the 116 shipyards worldwide that today already have joined Tribon.com.”
