Dream Cruises, the first-ever Asian luxury cruise line, claimed its place in history here today when Genting Dream’s official Godmother, Puan Sri Cecilia Lim, the wife of Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Genting Hong Kong christened its maiden luxury cruise ship, spectacular Genting Dream, before an assembly of prominent officials from the Chinese government as well as top executives from trade and industry. Peter Stanford, founding president of the South Street Seaport Museum passed away on Thursday morning, 24th March 2016. We have lost our founder. We have lost a passionate advocate for our work.We have lost a friend. I first met Peter Stanford when I joined the Seaport Museum as Waterfront Director. He was visiting to advocate for an exhibition on the ship Wavertree. He spoke enthusiastically about a particular model in the Museum's collection, asserting that it must be a part of the project. As the visit wrapped up, he eagerly queried me on my background. Peter was a persistent man, endlessly insisting that the apparently impossible could be achieved. And in that - and as long as he and Norma were involved - he was quite right.

The U.S. pressed China to implement structural reforms in its exchange rate and to modify its "aggressive behaviour" in disputed waters during a preliminary round of bilateral talks, senior U.S. officials said. Charles Wilkes, aboard the sloop Vincennes, is the first American to discover the Antarctic coast. 1929 - The 3rd Marine Corps Brigade is disbanded at Tientsin, China, and all units, except the 4th Marines and the Peking legation guard, are withdrawn from the country. 1972 - A Navy F-4 Phantom from USS Constellation (CVA 64) downs a Vietnamese MiG-21. This is the first aerial victory since March 1970.

Northrop Grumman Corporation was awarded a contract from Maersk Line, Limited for maintenance work on the military prepositioning ship M/V Pvt. Franklin J. Phillips. Northrop Grumman's Newport News sector is the prime contractor for the work, which will include dry-docking, maintenance and repair. The Phillips arrived at the shipyard on Sept. 26 and will remain for approximately five weeks. and rudder maintenance; and underwater hull painting.
