New River Radar For Inland Waterways

In 2018, Furuno introduced a new generation of River Radars with the release of the FR1908VBB, a 4kW Black Box Radar with a portrait display (vertical screen orientation) that allows mariners to see more detail ahead of the vessel, where it counts. Now, Furuno has introduced the second in the series, the higher-powered FR1918VBB River Radar. Test Ride: Furuno's New 15X8 Series Radar

Taking the Furuno 15X8 series radar out for a spin; Furuno’s newest entry has found a welcome place on inland waters. Furuno’s newest radar is now on the market. The first workboat installation of the company’s FAR-15X8 series was completed in late February and early March. Following installation, test runs were carried out on the Bruce M, a 65-foot, 1,900 Hp inland pushboat operated by SDS Lumber based out of Bingen, Wash. The vessel works the Columbia Snake River system, mainly pushing either construction or wood chip barges.

FURUNO Launches Two Radar Models

FURUNO has announced that two new Radar models FAR-15x3 series and FAR-15x8 series will be ready for launch very shortly. These two Radar models have been developed with the concept of delivering high performance and excellent operability at the same time. The FAR-15x8 series fully meets the latest performance standard of IMO for all Cat.2 Radar (19-inch display is required for Radar effective diameter of 250 mm) and Cat.3 Radar (15-inch display is required for Radar effective diameter of 180 mm). FAR-15x3 series is non-IMO Radar suitable for workboats and fishing vessels.

Imtech Marine Introduces the New Furuno RHRS 2014

Furuno and Imtech Marine have jointly developed an innovative product for inland waterway shipping. The RHRS 2014 river radar is a revolutionary color radar, unique in the inland shipping market is the mouse control, which makes this radar very user-friendly. It also offers maximum safety thanks to a black box with two SD cards for 24 hours of storage of radar images. The RHRS 2014 replaces the RHRS 2005, which is now being used on more than 4,000 inland waterway ships. The RHRS 2014 is approved by the  Wasser- und Schifffahrtsverwaltung des Bundes for inland waterway shipping in Europe.
