Big Abandonment & Recovery Missions Offshore for AF

AF Group's wholly owned subsidiary, AF Decom Offshore UK Limited, has in a consortium with Heerema Marine Contractors Nederland SE (Heerema AF Consortium), entered into an agreement with CNR, Canadian Natural Resources International (UK) Limited for decommissioning of the Murchison platform in the UK North Sea.

MoU includes a major contract for engineering, preparatory, removal and recycling (EPRD) of both tires and steel foundations, in all, a combined weight of more than 37,000 tons. The agreement requires the initiation of engineering work immediately after signing the contract, while the offshore works will start early in 2016 abandonment and dismantling work will continue until 2020.

Murchison field extends over the British-Norwegian median line, while the platform is on the UK continental shelf east of the Shetland Islands. The platform, which is one of the largest steel jacket platforms in the North Sea, has been operational since 1980 and production ceased in March 2014.
