BASS and IMTC Sign Training Agreement

March 18, 2002

BASS has signed an agreement with Indian Maritime Training Centre (IMTC). IMTC will train seafarers to familiarize themselves with the BASSware suite. BASS installed the planned maintenance software, Star IPS at IMTC in September last year. The first Star-IPS training was conducted around mid October 2001. To date, 110 participants have undergone the training. The program is divided into four modules, which are covered in three days. At the end of each module delivery, participants will complete the practical exercises based on relative day-to-day shipboard activities. The course is delivered with the help of PowerPoint slides and hands-on navigation through the actual software.

“Signing this agreement with BASS, has greatly enhanced our own portfolio of software training programmes we offer. Over the years, we have trained many experienced seafarers in software applications. Having sailed on board and also possessing good knowledge of IT, our instructors are able to provide realistic and practical training, which greatly enhances the shipboard operations. In past 3 months, we have also undertaken onboard training for Star IPS which enable us to train seafarers on ship’s actual database and solve practical day-to-day problems. Having started with Star IPS, we will in future provide training for the entire range of BASSware solutions,” said Pawan Kapoor, Head of IMTC.
