Pride of America Damaged at Yard

January 16, 2004

The Pride of America, the 72,000-ton NCL cruise ship under construction at Lloyd Werft’s Bremerhaven shipyard, took on water up to its third deck and experienced a 15 degree list. Reports are indicating that stormy weather and high winds are to blame for the ship’s leaks and leaning. The Pride of America has been docked at Lloyd Werft since December 2002, where it is undergoing a transformation. According to NCL, the ship which is slated to be delivered in April, should be refloated within the next few days. Until the ship is refloated Lloyd Werft will not be able to assess the damage and any potential delay in delivery.
