Argentinian Center Installs Engine Room Simulator

Buenos Aires, Argentina. Transas Marine has delivered its leading Engine Room Simulator ERS 5000 TechSim to the Center for Marine Engineer Officers and Chief Engineers in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The Center for Marine Engineer Officers and Chief Engineers is the corporate and trade association that brings together Merchant Navy Officers specialising in machinery. These professionals are responsible for the operation, maintenance, management and troubleshooting of all technical elements on merchant ships.

The simulator complex consists of a classroom for training in diesel propulsion, steam and ASD tug plants with eight workstations, a classroom for training in refrigerating plants operation with four trainee workstations. Full mission simulator imitating tanker plants allows for advanced training and certification. Full mission simulator for steam plants with high voltage equipment fully complies with the latest STCW requirements, whilst two instructor stations with modern tools for evaluation and assessment provide for efficient training process management.

Representatives of different Argentine maritime sectors took part in the opening ceremony along with the Argentine Navy and Argentine Coast Guard authorities. The President of the Center, Naval Superior Engineer Officer, Horacio Dominguez, stressed the importance of the project and its relevance to fulfilling the Center's motto - to invest in training since "proper training means a better future".
