ASFAT, Damen Sign MOU at IDEF in Istanbul

On May 2nd, 2019 Damen Shipyards Group signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Askeri Fabrika ve Tersane İşletme AŞ (ASFAT) for collaboration in the production of marine platforms. The MOU signing took place at the 14th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF) taking place in Istanbul April 30th – May 3rd.

Present at the signing ceremony were ASFAT Deputy General Manager Mr Bulent Safak and General Manager Mr Esad Akgün. Attending for Damen were Chief Operations Office Mr Jan-Wim Dekker and Sales Manager Mr Boran Bekbulat.

AFSAT was established in 2018 to utilize the capabilities of the 27 military factories and three naval shipyards within the body of Turkey’s Ministry of Defense. The fully government-owned organisation offers innovative solutions to friendly and allied nations, spanning design, manufacture, maintenance, sustainment and training areas with solution partner approach based on public-private sector synergies.
